Three Best Performances? I've only seen his fights with Holmes,Gonzalez,Ecklund, D.Wilson & Mercer. Just wondering if there are a few others out there I need to see
James Broad ...he pole axed him inside 2 rounds ...and ofcourse his best fight ever against Frank bruno ...( Bruno was in his prime and top-fit )
Bruno was his #1 performance #2 I would say the Holmes fight #3 is a pick'em; I would go for another 'defeat'; the Mercer bout...
Tillis fight was about the only time he got an A+ result, everything else was via decisions. He looked real good in that one. Smith #1 was a dominating fight. Then again, we are talking Smith here so it is certainly possible to project guys outboxing him. Simms maybe for the third one? Not very certain about this and it really was more of a B grade performance. And Simms was another guy that usually found a way to lose big fights. Better not watch the Neilsen fight if you don't want to see his stale efforts in there.
I've not really seen anything of Tim. What can you guys tell me about him? Style? Strengths and weaknesses? Indulge me.
Very skilled boxer, decent enough footwork, good jab, good right hand....underrated power..... His weakness was his lack of stamina....and focus on his career....I think...
Very lazy and disinterested much of the time, in the gym AND the ring. Too bad, 'cause he could box and punch.
His fight against Mercer is something else, great body punching exhibited in that fight, too. His weaknesses were probably dedication, conditioning, and stamina. In his prime, he had it all, thouhg. As a matter of fact, I'd compare him to Junior Jones in a way .
The best we ever saw him was against Holmes. The Bruno fight was a nice win, but he didn't look great in that one, letting the statue-like Bruno gain a lead and momentum. Bruno's own poor stamina and propensity to freeze when hurt spelled his doom, not any brilliance on Tim's part. The first-round KO of Tillis when that actually still meant someting was a nice scalp for a young contender too.......
Tim could do it all when he wanted to. He had it all, great jab, defence, and power. He really could have accomplished much more if he wanted it
Such an underachiever. Agree with Sal per Bruno. Witherspoon was fat and somewhat uninspired for most of it. He was periodically looking to land the sneak haymaker. Tillis actually slipped on some water left in the corner and Witherspoon was on him like a fat kid on a cupcake. Love the Holmes fight, tho imo Holmes nicked it without any doubt at all.
