How do you know? Floyd v Oscar was the slowest I've seen Floyd in the ring...that extra 3 pounds definitely slowed him down!

To give Chavez as many advantages as possible, which is also why the fight was in San Antonio in front of an almost all pro Chavez crowd. Chavez is the one who wanted to win a title in his 4th weight class. He had been fighting at 140 for a while and he was going against a former LW who was actually almost 2 inches shorter than him. In that situation, I don't believe a catchweight was warrented. The same goes for Hoya vs. Hopkins. Hoya was simply trying to drain Hopkins. Hopkins was just in too good of shape, and too determinted for that though.

no speed wont be slower with 3 or 4 pounds but what it does is feel uncomfortable and make you feel sluggish, it doesnt slow you down in terms of punching speed

not a fan of catchweights. But it has allowed great fights to occir that wouldn't normally have happened. 2 fighters that want to fight each other, and don't want to give away too much advantage in the ringh, so find a medium they're both happy with.

P.S anyone who has moaned about Manny in this thread, IMO is a complete boxing ******. The guy has fought at one catchweight in his career, there a numerous catchweight fights that happen every year, and the fact you pin all your hate on Manny, proves you don't know much about boxing and only follow the selct few at the top.
And i'm going to say the for the 100th and last time, for everyone that think he weight drained Cotto. Cotto never once complained about his weight been an issue. So stop doing it for him ESB's, your making Cotto out to be a fanny.
and p.s cotto is my fave fighter of the lst 10 years.

    Stop unneccesary hating.

Extra weight does make you sluggish...and it also effects your punching speed!

It clearly does...it's one of the reasons why Mayweather most likely didn't come in at 154lbs. It's the same with Pacquiao...Pacquiao's punching speed has slowed slightly as he has moved up in weight, it doesn't look like it has because he has been a lot faster than his oponents still...but it has definitely slowed since he has hit 145lbs.

Mayweather has come from a lower weight class...he can't keep moving up in weight and expect to keep the same hand speed. When he fought Oscar, he was a small Welterweight moving upto challenge for a title at 154lbs...those extra 3-4 pounds made a difference in his hand and foot speed.

if you look at my other posts i have explained.

why would floyd of went all the way to the limit when he had no intention to stay there. he was always going to move back down

yes he moved up from several division but he outgrew most of those weight classes.

pac hasnt slowed at all, he kept his speed and got more power

I know Floyd had no intention of staying at Light Middle. But that doesn't change the fact that he was a small Welterweight gaining more weight for fight night. He will have been sluggish like you said, but look up the definition of sluggish...I'm pretty sure it will say slow moving or something similar. Floyd's hand and foot speed were effected when he moved up in weight, and it was clear to see.

Pacquiao has slowed a little...like I said, it's hard to notice because he is still much faster than the opponents he has been in with.

It's a shame if Khan's name is bigger. Bradley is the champ.
