What's the usual / acceptable, amount of time you would expect a boxer to have between fights? Obviously assuming all is well i.e no injuries etc....
IMO, fighters should be fighting as regularly as possible. In this day and age, any less than 3 fights is unsatisfactory to me, but I'd prefer 4, and between 10-12 would be best.
Depends at what stage of their career they are at. Starting out 8 a year, stepping up every fight. Realistcally when tv gets involved and profile raises 4-6.
If it keeps going this way. You'll be lucky to see a champion fight in your lifetime. Oh, but by that point there will be 9,000 world champions.
Fighters starting out should fight at least 10 times in the first year. Fight off TV, at small events, on other promoters' cards, anything to stay active. Once they've established themselves as a contender I would say at least 6 fights in a year, and at world level 4 should be the minimum.
in terms of keeping yourself fresh and looking after your health, what would be the ideal? Would you say a month between fights is ok?
I dont see the point in fighting for fightings sake. I would rather see a young fighter get top sparing that fighting so called cans. That said of all current domestic fighters I like the way Tyson Fury has been brought along in terms of number of fights. But through no fault of his own his next fight may be the sort of pointless fight I dont agree with.
I no I've gone a bit Jimmy Wilde crazy today, but he once had two fights in one day, with both opponents lasting a combined 5 rounds.
