Not only is it influential it seems to be fairly common. If a sanctioning body is expecting their fees and recognition they will make it happen.

Definitely make the fight. Wlad can have it for his next optional defence. Sanders has three average wins since the Vitali loss. His last was just two months ago. Sanders will always be talented but fat.

Wlad should really look to fight the WBO/WBA winner and then make another optional defence. He can forget the WBC because his bro wants that.

Not really, the timeslot for a meaningful rematch against Sanders has passed. Sanders isn't even ranked by the IBF, so they would have to make it a non-title affair.

Rididculous, Sanders is far too old and inactive to be a viable oponnent, especially to qualify for a title shot. Beating guys once they have lost, been severley injured, or inactive really doesnt avenge the previous loss several years before. Why not get Purrity in the ring then, its just nonsense to even consider such fights today.

as the timeslot for a meaningful Brewster fight passed over a year ago when he was injured and lost.

He didnt wait years and for the guys to be finishe dbefore seeking thos erematches, he wanted them immediatley. The mcall one was kept from him for 3 years because Don King froze him out of the pictureeven when Lewis was number one contender again for the title.

I agree, efter a big win for Sanders it would make some sense. But my God, what if Klitschko would lose? Sanders, champion at 42!!!

Valid points and I won't disagree with you here. Wlad seemed to need "rebuilding" more than Lewis ever did. Presumably, Wlad is rebuilt now. So now Wlad has the opportunity and can make these "avenges".

Whether or not Corrie can come in shape and have the stamina to go the distance I do not believe is the question.

The question for me is, can Corrie come in with enough handspeed and power to flurry madly like he did in the first 3 rounds of his big fights to seriously test wlad's chin?

The last thing to go with a fighter is power, is the speed there? Probably not but for 3 rounds this fight might be wildly entertaining.

Corrie has looked good in his 3 fights since losing to Vitali. The problem is that he nay have broken his hand against Bispo and had to cancel his June 23rd fight. Despite severly damaging his punching hand, he went 10 rounds (winning every one) and won basically one-handed. Unlike Brewster, Sanders would show a lot of heart, and I doubt Wlad could floor him. Unless he pulled a Brewster and fought just to collect one last pay check, Sanders would be a dangerous opponent. Wlad would have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

A Sanders fight would only help Wlad redeem a blemish on his record but for the future of the division it is not only pointless but is also unfair to more deserving challengers.

Sanders doesnt have a marquee name to get an unwarranted title shot and at his age retirement is around the corner.

Sanders messed up his hand in his last fight. I think he is out of commision for awhile. Honestly I'd rather see a unification bout vs. the winner of Chagaev/Ibragimov. Their fight is Oct 13, so it could be scheduled right after the new year. only a 5 month layoff so why bother with an optional defense.

The Sanders rematch would be interesting in one regard. Does Wladimir have an answer for Corey's staight left? That is about all, but I'm interested in knowing.

If he beats Sanders, fine. Sanders is older. I just want to see if Sanders can land his left with regularity.

I really wish Klitschko would fight someone like Chagaev next, but after a fight like that; Sanders would be acceptable.
