There's talk of Froch v. Pascal for the vacant WBC, if Pascal gets past Zuniga. If Froch wins and if Kessler wins the WBA, they'll only meet in a unification fight. If Froch loses to Pascal...I think he won't try and hound Kessler up the WBA rankings...
Yeah, he does. The feller'll always have at least a puncher's chance but that might the only thing he'll have against the best. I guess we'll see soon. Anyways, here's the fight: [yt]QCGclo8302o[/yt] [yt]bYacvZSZLWw[/yt]
come on froch! rooting for him all the way now about time nottingham had a real champ, i think kessler and bute may be too much for him but i have to support my local man, would love to see him in with kessler
Froch has been seriously avoided in his career. He can't force the top names to fight him. He has a large fan base in Nottm and has always had TV backing, so therefore the money on offer to opponents will have always been good.
Didn't the Showtime commentator, around the start of round 2 I think, say that a lot of Froch's friends had put money on a 4th or 5th round stoppage? Froch did notably step it up in the 4th, you don't want a load of annoyed friends after all As for his next fight, well he was after Inkin so he's got his sights on the right level. Just need to have another go and hope there's no pull-out this time. Him against Kessler would be good stuff, but I think fighting Pascal (or someone at the same level) first would be a better idea.
Rubbish! He was the one who avoided similar prospects for a long time, preferring to fight past-it journeymen or poor contenders brought in at very short notice instead. When he had the chance to fight Lucian Bute in the IBF eliminator for the shot at the IBF Champ Berrio, he declined. So...HE was the one doing the avoiding. He was the one avoiding the up and coming fighters who are now big names in the division. What do you mean he cannot force the top names to fight him? He could be fighting Bute for the IBF in autumn as his mandatory, but instead he decided to compete for a vacant WBC belt. He knew there was no chance in hell Calzaghe would fight him. The whole Calzaghe calling out thing and trash talk about Kessler and Bute is a publicity stunt, nothing more. He doesn't intend to fight these guys; at least, he hasn't so far! Why would the likes of Calzaghe, Kessler or Mundine fight him anyway? He's a 30 year old PROSPECT! He'd unproven! He's never fought an opponent who put in a C+ level performance in yet. Tatevosyan was capable of it, but fighting less than 2 months after the beating at the hands of Bute and with the ref stepping it relatively fast to stop it, he didn't have much time to do much. So...another C level performance at best by Froch's opponent. So you have Magee as his best win, but that wasn't better than a C+ performance. He's unproven, David! Right, so if he has a large fan-base and the money to make an offer to good opponents, why doesn't he do it? Why dd he fight Reid and not Sartison, for example? Why is he 30 with 23 fights under his belt without having fought someone decent yet, if he has that money to bring them to Nottingham? Clearly because he doesn't want to stretch himself! Compare him with Bute, for example. Bute was fighting C level fighters just over a year ago too. But when he had the chance to stretch himself, he took part in the IBF eliminator! Why dd Froch avoid him then? Why did Inkin avoid him then? It took Bika to say YES. He then fought Berrio too...that's two top 10 opponents... Yeah, Bute wasn't an early riser either, but when the time was right he stepped up to the plate. Froch didn't. He only has himself to blame; sorry, David.
