Yes it's a great win no doubt but some of the sheer nonsense spouted about this victory is taking the ****. "The best British victory of all time" "An ATG win". Let's be honest here gentlemen. It's probably at best the 3rd best British win of the last decade with number 2 being Haye going away from home to beat Mormeck in his own backyard to become the man at CW. With 1st obviously being Haye going abroad to beat the HW champ Valuev in his own backyard where his opponent did not just outweigh Haye by the odd pound or two but in fact several stones!

This is not a knock on Froch in anyway who is of course a fine warrior and champion in his own right and let's be honest having the 3rd best win amongst the Brits is not to be sniffed at.

Yeah, the "Greatest Brit victory" type comments are ridiculously over the top.

The fight actually told us more about Bute than it did Froch.

I don't think Hattons win over Tysuzu is better. Hayes win over Mormeck does deserve allot of credit though.

Look how Froch took him out though? it was more than a statement. no way in hell people thought this would end pretty early or be one sided earlier on.

I agree. Hype needs to be calmed, for now - lets move on to Brook - Jones, Khan-Garcia, Munroe-Quigg.

I'm on the "wait and see what Bute becomes after the fight" train of thought. I'll proclaim it an excellent win if he goes on to be a proper champ.

Hattons win is FAR better. Bute was unproven against the top tier, he had been on the verge of being stopped by Andrade and whilst the favourite and the more skilled boxer, there were questions over his chin and he had not fought any of the best guys in the division.

Tsyzu (despite the revisionist bull****) was the best in the world, had destroyed Mitchell in his previous bout and fought how he had always fought. Yes he had had some time out, but the reality is that his loss to Vince Phillips was sylistically different but very similar in terms of what stopped him...being dragged deep and tired out. Being backed up and not allowed to work from the mid range and pick his shots. Phillips did that by using the jab and long rights from range but forcing the pace. Hatton did it by smothering and fighting inside.

The result was the same, Kostya whilst an ATG was always one paced, and was just devastatingly good at what he did, which was stalk, stay in the mid range and pick shots down the pipe as much as he could.

Tsyzu did not look old, slower, tighter or ANY different in the early rounds, but Hatton dragged him into deep water. A clear HOF fighter rated in the top 5 p4p and an ATG of the 140 division stopped by a HUGE underdog.

As opposed to Froch beating a world champ whose best win is Johnson and other than that has heavily overrated Miranda and Mendy.

Get out with your love of Haye its embarrassing. Froch's performance was 10X better than Haye's performance against Valuev who was just a lumbering donkey. Froch was fighting an unbeaten fighter who many ranked as one or two at SMW in the world and Froch decimated him

Bika > Mendy, Miranda, and possibly Johnson.

Froch's win against Bute was a lot better than Haye's win against Valuev. Haye fought like he was sparring in that fight, and was scared to engage. I didn't even have him winning that, and I was a big Haye fan at the time.

Whilst people may be going over the top a bit with the fact that Froch beat Bute, the manner of the win was pretty special. Bute may have been overrated, but recently Froch has been considerably underrated.

I think if Froch had the same mind set vs Ward and started fast with powerful combos, he could KO Ward too.

I think it was a great win, the best in recent times over here for sure, best ever is a bit too far though.

    Nope.

Ward is just too good, he can and would nullify anything Froch has in the locker. He's even physically stronger than Froch.

Hell, if Ward were to fight Dawson, I think Ward would win.
