Would be great to see any Booker, but the Marshall fight seems a stormer of a fight.

Seems to be the best performance of Burley's career IMO. And up until the stoppage was a very close fight. And also i read about it today.

 

Why is that?

1939 bout would have been fascinating, apparently Williams put on a defensive clinic. Would be mesmerising to see defence at such a high level IMO. or the third 1942 bout where Holman also triumphs.

Been meaning to ask you as you are somewhat knowledgeable on Burley. How good do you think the Burley that was beaten by Charles was? I think that is the primeified Charley Burley right there, 1942 IMO was his best year all things considered and Charles beat him twice.

 

1. Frazier vs Ali I (The atmosphere had to be electric!!!)
2. Louis vs Schmeling I (The undertones and significance both racially in US and the global dynamics of this fight seem unparrallelled)
3. Arguello- Escalera I (The Bloody Battle of bayamon..reports of Arthur Mercante calling this the most brutal fight he ever witnessed)
4. Tommy Loughran vs Gene Tunney (draw- with NY papers declaring Tunney the victor, and the Philly papers calling loughran the victor....We are all aware that Philly has a much higher moral and ethical standard than NY, both in the past as well as today!!! I would like to see who really should have won)
5. Dempsey vs Willard (Just for the brutality!!!)

 

Yeh makes sense, i think Holman was abit of a boogeyman for burley in the fact that he beat him when Burley really couldnt afford a lost.
