Time to be honest...I can't hold this Collazo fight against the Thurmanator

    It looks like Collazo is the second-most credible welterweight currently available for fighters who are limited to the Haymon Protection Plan.

    These guys are available:
    -Alexander
    -Collazo
    -Berto
    -Lopez
    -Ortiz
    -Garcia
    -Peterson

    These guys are not currently available:
    -Floyd has a September TBA lined up.
    -Brook has a weak fight lined up.
    -Porter has a good fight lined up.
    -Broner has a good fight lined up.
    -Khan has a terrible fight lined up.
    -Algieri has a terrible fight lined up.
    -Maidana weighs like 3,000 pounds right now.
    -Provodnikov needs a break.
    -Paulie is injured.

    Not even remotely close to being options:
    -Bradley is non-Haymon and has a terrible fight lined up.
    -Pacquiao is non-Haymon and injured.
    -JMM is non-Haymon and basically retired.
    -Rios is non-Haymon.
    -Matthysse is non-Haymon.
    -Guerrero just got it.
    -Chaves already got it.
    -JSK already got it.

    -I am only interested in Brook, Khan, Maidana, Provodnikov, Porter, Peterson, or Broner.
    -I would not complain too much about Garcia, Berto, Lopez, or Ortiz.
    -I am not remotely interested in Alexander, Collazo, Algieri, or Paulie.
    -Thurman won't get the Floyd fight, but I would be highly interested if he did, even though he's done nothing to deserve it.

    If the lineal champ at 140, Mauricio Herrera, moved up and Thurman took him on that would be a fight I'd really like to see.

    Unless a fighter is outright avoiding another fighter, I will almost always hold the fighter accountable for their fights.

    Hiding behind a manager and promoter to avoid criticism is weak.

    When youre a top name with the most powerful manager in the sport and youre fighting Collazo, nah, Im gonna hold it against you, and Im a fan of Thurman.


    Theres fighters that sit back and let their careers be guided, and then theres fighters that go out there, stand up to their teams and make **** happen. Thurman needs to man up and take control of his career.

    That being said, up until this fight I think hes being brought along ok... Ghost was a good step up, hopefully they get back on track after Collazo. If they have another weak fight after that it should be a huge deflation for Thurman fans.

    It has been over six years since Collazo looked good against someone with a pulse. (the robbery loss to Berto)

    That half-retired part-timer Ortiz he knocked out wasn't really worth a damn. He struggled with Upsher Chambers, lost to Hernandez...

    Collazo hasn't been anywhere near elite for a very long time. :-(

    Was a meaningless W for Khan, and is a huge step down for Thurman.

    Because Alexander is even more boring than Collazo.

    Alexander is one of those fighters that should just stop boxing, because he isn't good OR entertaining, and that is not what we want.

    You don't get it. Alexander is still remotely viable at this level. Collazo isn't.

    I agree. But strictly in terms of who does more for Thurman in terms of development as a pro fighter, you have to go with Collazo.

    He should've fought Berto so he could claim he's fighting the top ranked challenger for that belt he holds. Still an easy nights work but at least he had an excuse.
