Go watch Joe louis fight Primo Carnera. Should they have made a superheavy division for Primo because he was too big for joe? The two best heavies just happen to be huge dudes right now

Wait, what? My suggestion to force grotesquely overweight fighters to get in a reasonable shape is the worst suggestion you have ever seen?

If they made a super heavy weight division all that would happen would be the fighters who come up from cruiserweight would bulk up through the heavyweight division too in order to receive a big pay day.

It would just create a division from 200-220ish lbs with another 4 **** champions.

David Haye 210 pounds vs Nickolai Valuev 320 pounds

Tomasz Adamek 215 vs Michael Grant 270

Bryant Jennings 220 vs Bowie Tupou 250

A super heavyweight division takes away from past champs who were heavyweight champs does it not? heavyweight is supposed to be the glory division.

Skill is more important than size. The bigger man does not win,the more skillful man wins.

    Ultra weight divison maybe too!

But you got the right idea.

How about a separate division for only southpaws? Because fighting southpaws is really hard just like fighting guys who are bigger.

You must be a special kind of stupid.

Ray Austin is 6'5 and he is a small heavyweight?
Williams is fairly big and a broad guy, and Solis is just out of shape.

No, we do not need another division with 15 more belts.

Not true, they were even lighter.

    Dempsey 190
Baer 205-210 (190-220, 205-210 for majority of prime)
    Louis 195-205
    Marciano 185
    Liston 210
    Foreman 215-225 in prime
    Shavers 210
    Tyson 217

There are exceptions on the high and low ends with Lewis/Klychko or a 160-170lb Langford, Fitz, Walker, Ketchel

Spinks, Holyfield, Moorer, Mercer, Ibragimov, Jirov, Haye, Boytsov, Huck all guys who have showed HW power weighing under 210lbs in recent times.

People keep saying that, but in practice no one believes it. Lots of posters think Dawson/Ward would be a totally different fight at 175 (I think Ward would still beat him, but many experts feel the 7 lbs make a huge difference). The same goes for all the discussion regarding Manny's catchweights, Martinez draining or not draining, etc. Weight and size are HUGE issues in boxing. Which shouldn't be surprising, since this is elite sports and each athlete tries to get every edge they can.

Remember Booth's excuses after Haye lost? "Haye is basically a cruiserweight". Haye claimed that Wlad would not be a heavyweight champion if he was 6'2 220 lbs....is he right or not? Either way, practically everyone agreed that Haye at 215 lbs vrs. Wlad at 245 lbs was not an even fight from a size/height perspective, and was only interesting because of Haye's charisma and speed.

To reiterate, the reason I want a heavyweight division (and a super heavy division) is for the titles. The titles would motivate the best fighters at 200-230 fight each other, unlike what we have today, where Povetkin, Gaye, Adamek and the rest don't fight each other and wait for their shot at K2.

Buddy you make good points but another division would not motivate the biggest guys to fight each other. They would do th same **** they do now. We would have another 30 belts and we would have fat grossly outta shape fighters. Heavuyweight is the glory division and we cant cheapen it.

Before Haye lost to Wlad,Booth said "David is the best HW" after the fight he said "David is a crusier." LOL

David Haye's size had nothing to do with it. If David Haye was 6'5 he would have still lost because he didint thorw any punches. Wlad has already been KO'd by lesser punchers and shorter fighters than Haye.

Haye has the power! He KO'd a nearly 250 pound Chisora did he not?

No Haye lost because he had less skill. Ward beats Dawson anyday, any weight.

Think about James Toney. A defenseive master right? And no matter what division he fights in,he has not been KO'd. Why? Because his skill level.

Holyfield was 205 agisnt Bowe who was 235-240.
He was also only 209 against the nearly 260 pounds Foreman.

Yeah, we need another division what will only have 4-5 fighters in it, further watering down the shitty HW division. :patsch The talks of a SprHW division have been done to death, and rightly refuted.

Here's a challenge for those of you who claim weight/height/reach don't matter above 200 lbs.

Can you name any fighter or prospect in the 195-230 lb range that you think is a future (potential) lineal heavyweight champion?

The only name that jumps out at me is Wilder....and that's because he has such great height/reach. But there's a very good chance that he will bulk up to more than 230 in his prime. And even he is probably not big or tough enough to challenge guys like Pulev or Price.

I guess if Solis was in perfect condition he'd be under 230, and potentially capable of beating pretty much anyone. But I wouldn't use him as a poster boy for not having a super heavyweight division, given the fact that 230 lb titles might motivate him to get into better condition and give the fans better fights.

Some people will probably mention Haye but would you really pick him to beat a guy like Pulev? Would be a good fight i guess.
