Good call men, I really didn't think Dirrell could pull it out. I saw how he reacted to getting hit by Froch and didn't think he would react any better against AA. Man was I wrong! I was shocked at how Dirrell would stand in pocket and what really impressed me was the first round. AA tried to establish his jab(which imo he broke JT down with) Dirrell would double right over it, even when he got tagged. Dirrell didnt allow him to use his jab.

Next up was his use of movement and distance...Damn in the froch fight Dirrell just ran. No finesse to it, this time whoa! Dirrell walked Abe into hard straight counters and used his distance in combo with his punches to keep Abe out of range. I knew this fight would be different when I saw AA overextending with his punches.(like the KD)

Really, good job by Dirrell. AA was coming on and started hurting Dirrell in the end and I would have loved to see what what have happened in the next round and a half. B/c Dirrell stopped doing some of the things I give him credit for towards the end of the fight.

AA getting himself DQ'ed ruined a satifactory finish to a good fight. I am good with the ending considering what happend. I would have loved to see if Dirrell was going to just run out the clock and win. Stand his ground a lil more and beat AA, or get knocked out. But what i didn't want to see was Dirrell get 5 minutes to recover and then get knocked out b/c he could not fully recover or just go in to plain run mode b/c of a lack of confidence considering he just got rocked. I would love to see a re-match b/c we all deserve a better ending.

We have a thousand threads to dispute our feelings over the ending. I made this one to give props to the few who had the foresight to see that boxing clinic Dirrell put on AA for 9 rounds and 2 minutes.

I'll eat a little too. Not because of who I picked...but because of how I predicted the fight would play out. I was sure stylistically this was the worst match up you could come up with in the Super Six, and expected an ugly drawn out cat and mouse type of fight. So I decided to watch the HBO card on television and have Abraham-Dirrell playing simultaneously on my laptop, since I wasn't expecting much from Showtime. To my surprise Dirrell stood his ground and used movement only as need be. I thoroughly enjoyed the fight (though the ending kind of ruined it) and Dirrell really impressed me.

I hedged a little more than that. I said if the post point deduction Dirrell from the Froch fight showed up......

And show up he did. The young man took a HUGE step up. The only question I had was if he could withstand a full 12 round barrage... We still don't know that, but Dirrell was still doing an admirable job not getting hit, his specialty, before the DQ. He was still countering enough so that AA couldn't have his way or land clean.

Good post..pure class in my book:good...Something else to add to your post was how Dirrell was able to handle AA power...We all know AA can bang, and I was shocked on how Dirrell was taking AA shots flush on the chin without budging...now thats what got me!

Kinda figured Dirrell was out to get some redemption! Too many people overlooked Dirrell physical attributes! None the less it was a good win smeared by the ending!:patsch

You know I totally forgot about that. I meant to add that also. Dirrell when he did get tagged handled it very well. It had me thinking to a certain extent...This was the first guy who started boxing at 168 that AA fought, right?

 I did the same. Watched HBO then watched showtime Too on the eastcoast. The Showtime fight was way more exciting.

Yep! Taylor was coming up from MW so techinally I didnt count him but you're right...Dirrell is the first natural SMW to eat all of AA shots and keep on doing his thing! I cant lie though...AA was starting to hit Dirrell a lot but Dirrell didnt lose focus IMO.

I hope this isnt the case as the touny goes on...We'll have to see how everybody else handle his power before I comment on his power...Seems he drained himself to fight at 160 to have the power advantage, but I wont make assumption until I see him in there with another natural SMW!

AA's power is a little over rated. Both Pavlik and AA took several KD's and a couple of rounds to finish off Miranda after they initially hurt him. AA was shorter and at a reach disadvantage and Dirrell did very well to control the distance so I'm not sure how much of those punches he actually took. AA was fed a steady diet of shorter guys in his title defenses in Germany. They had to come to him to take the belt as he shelled up so they were in his wheel house. No doubt he does have a tremendous punch when he gets the right set, like having a guy on his knees in front of him, but I think it had more to do with Dirrell's keeping him out of his comfort zone than his chin. I'm not knocking Dirrell's chin. I just think his defense kept it from being checked more than anything else.
