:good Totally agree. I think Kessler got overwhelmed by the moment and attack mode of Ward. Ward was relentless. Once he watched the tape, I trust he'll make proper adjustments and past Froch. I do believe that he's got the tools to beat AA. We now know that AA simply can't deal with affective aggression, a stiff jab (anywhere on his body), and looping overhand rights and lefts. I think the fight Saturday was lost by AA in Rd. 6 or 7. He caught AD with a real nice shot only to have AD pound on his chest and unleash 10 to 15 unanswered punches to end the round. Priceless...:bbb

hey just throwing this out there - given how dirrell was able to use his height/reach, namely with straight punches through abe's guard (and mixing in body hooks), how do you think pavlik would have fared had that fight happened?
i know there are big differences between dirrell's boxing/moving style and pavlik's standing/trading, so please don't lambast me for the comparison. just asking people's opinion

My head almost exploded when AD did that chest pounding after hitting AA right after AA hit him. I was jumpin around hype as hell everytime he traded with AA and came out with the better shot.

It will be about pavliks stanima. If pavlik still has good stanima then his jab and straight right will give AA big problems. He doesn't have that looping punch that is needed for a full attack on AA but he does have the tools to make it tough for AA to come out the shell. He would have to Make AA respect his power by throwing hard straight rights early like dirrell did with his straight left. Knocking abraham around and sometimes getting through the guard.

Great post. I was pulling for Dirrell but told my colleagues at the office that if money is involved, take Abraham. I was really happy to be wrong.

  8. i'm eatin it too. I told my boy that king arthur was gonna pull the sword out the stone and decapitate his dirrell's ass. I was kinda right, but still wrong. But I dont feel bad cause I really wanted dirrell to win just not like that.

I did not see the fight. I watched Maidana/Cayo because I have HBO but not Showtime. I have NEVER been so happy to be wrong!

Pavlik KO8 Abraham, and I have been saying that for over two years.

    Here is just one example:

I definitely was not a Dirrell fan at all going in, but by Round 5, he'd earned my respect.

Big up Dirrell, he fought like a slick boxer should (except for slipping to his knees a few times, but whatever), and if he would have fought like this vs Froch I think he would have taken the decision, even in Froch's hometown.

I'll be rooting for Dirrell for sure when he takes on Ward.

Yeah. But let's be honest. The post point deduction Dirrell showed he had it in him, my big question was would he bring that to the ring against AA. That was one hell of a step the young man took between fights. You can hope for that kind of thing but expecting and getting it is something else. I'm truly excited for/about him.

I'm with Boo on Pavlik/Abraham. Right now I'd favor Pavlik over Dirrell because he was starting to let the pressure get to him a little late. I think it is an experience issue. Two years from now? Might be a different story. I've already said on a couple of occasions, Jack Loew is impressed by Dirrell.

I wish AA would have just said he didn't see he was down, wished Dirrell health and asked for a rematch.

It was very exciting b/c of those reasons.
