It is very possible. De la Hoya like him or not is the bigest draw in the sport. Pacquiao has an extremely loyal fan base more so than Mayweather. In better economic times Pacquaio/De La Hoya would have at least have been compitive with Mayweather/De La Hoya. Also what was the PPV cost for both fights and what about ticket costs as well as other forms of revenue from both fights?

The only time his earning wasnt due to the other guy was when he fought Baldomir.

He made more then Ricky in the Hatton fight I assume (someone please confirm/deny this please) but he certainly wasn't the main draw. Frankly I think thats why the guys so bluddy insecure when he's negotiating a fight.

Fair enough about hating fighters. Just winning a fight is tough in itself. As far as meeting PAc, no, I never met the man. One thing though. I would never say I hate or dislike any fighter...EVER!

To be Frank, who cares about who was the draw or not lol... Only Floyd's critics care about stuff like that.

Dose Mayweather hold the icon status that Pacquaio holds in the Philippines? He is the better boxer and I would pick him to win if they were to fight. Mayweather may be apricated and respected by boxing fans and he might be known to non boxing fans only because he promotes himself Dancing with the stars and the WWE come to mind. People might watch mayweather becuse of his amazing boxing abillities and others in the hopes that he will get beat that dose not describe a loyal fan base. People who watch Pacquaio watch him in hope that he wins, that is a fan base. And yes people spend less on the "extras" when they are in a money crunch. If we are not in a world wide recession we are very close.

Floyd's boxing style does not draw. It never has, and never will, because it doesn't deliver to the fans the mano-a-mano combat that they pay good money to see. Floyd has carefully and meticulously matched himself in fights with established draws (E.g., ODLH, Hatton, and Gatti) in order to compensate for his own lack of in-ring appeal. A quintessential example of a Mayweather-style stinker was his widely-derided affair against Carlos Baldomir. As many at ringside would likely tell you, no one wants to see that kind of yawner.

People like to compare Floyd's fan-unfriendly fighting style to that of another undefeated fighter, Joe Calzaghe. There is no comparison. Joe makes his fights exciting by being right in the chest of his opponents and never shying away from danger. That is in direct contrast to PBF's cautious, defense-first approach. The problem for Joe's opponents is they can't keep up with the number of punches he throws; the problem for Floyd's opponent's is they can't run him down.

Floyd was -- and if he still chooses to be, is -- a tremendous fighter. However, it is a good thing that he is not a lead dog for the sport and fighters such as Hatton and Pacquiao are. If more fighters fought like Mayweather does then the movement among fans from boxing towards MMA would accelerate at an even faster rate than we are currently seeing. Ask Steve Cunningham. He knows he fought the wrong fight against Adamek but he realizes that the fans do not want to see a cruiserweight version of Mayweather.

Floyd has done great in the 24/7's and at racking up the "W's," but his manner inside the squared circle will always garner a huge "L" among the majority of boxing fans, fair or not.

You are an utter buffoon. Floyd has the legacy of being in 2 of the biggest fights this decade. Did your dumbass even read the thread. Oscar vs Floyd did 2.4 million. Oscar didnt come close to that fighting Mosley. Didnt come close to that fighting Tito. Get that dope? Tito Trinidad the pride of Puerto Rico didnt do half what Mayweather who you supposedly think doesnt attract fans did. Floyd has 10 times the popularity of Calzaghe. No one knows who the hell that guy who slaps old guys is. Nobody cares to watch his fights. Hell, he couldnt even sell out madison square fighting Roy Jones Jr. Fight barely did 200,000 buys. Floyd did twice that fighting Baldomir. You're a moron and dont know what the hell you're talking about. Oh and Floyds has had plenty of exciting fights, especially below 140 with the likes of Castillo and Chavez.

Whats your point? The numbers don't lie...Your gonna use that economic bull**** than ok...but your obviously just making excuses...Hatton Malignaggi wouldnt have done 250,000 buys...Hatton is barley a household name while Floyd is a household name...1 million more buys over pac-oscar isn't due to the economy-Hate the man but don't front like hes not a big draw

Than how come when the economy was ok Pac-Marquez 2 only did 370,000 buys.....Floyd Mayweather sales more tickets than Manny Pacquio...I'm not ignorant to the fact that Manny is a legend in the PI...I've been to the PI and I've seen first hand how much they praise him...That has nothing to do with the fact that Floyd sales more PPV and more tickets...Floyd-Hatton did 1 million buys...get over it man...hell even Judah-Mayweather did 400,000 buys and Judah was coming off a loss..now go read and do some research and than get ur facts straight rather than just hating cuz "u dont like mayweather"..ur bad

Where did I state that i did not like Mayweather in this or any threed on ESB? Saying that someone is a larger atraction is not saying that I don't like the guy as a boxer.
Dose Mayweather have fans who will travel from Grand Rapids or Las Vegas if the fight is not there like Hatton has a group of fans who will travel from Manchester? Aremyou sugesting that Mayweather is 100% responisible for all money that was made from his fight with Hatton? That seemes pretty outragus to suguest that ".Floyd-Hatton did 1 million buys" your words not mine.
