:deal Like I said time after time, Floyd in 2007 turned into a superstar. You replace Floyd with any other P4P fighter, those ppv numbers would have been cut in half.
Wow--this thread got alot more going than I thought it would. And no--I'm not joking about this. Someone said that the top guys need PBF more than he needs them. I disagree. PBF's EGO needs those big name stars more than anything else. He has to be in the biggest light, on the biggest stage, with the biggest name. Period. His ego won't allow for anything else. At least that's my opinion. Also my opinion is that I would bet the other top guys who have met him(PBF) probably don't like him or hate him for various reasons--his arrogance, his Wins, his style in the ring, or it could be from just plain envy. Again--my opinion. Now, you couldn't freeze the guy out forever---no way. But I think it could be done on a limited basis. There are lots of other good fights to be made at and around that weight class. Someone also suggested I was "scared" for the guys at the top. Why? What do I care. I have no particular loyality to anyone. I would most likely pick PBF in a match up with the other guys at around the 147 weight class. Here's my point---Don't let this guy run all over you at the table---don't give in to what will be his demand for the lion's share of the purse. He is no longer champ, and he is no longer P4P #1. Demand an equal share or walk away. Freeze him out of the big fights that he says(and his EGO demands) he wants. Either he will have to give in, or he will stay retired, or he will have to take a smaller fight. The guy walked away from the sport and has been gone for over a year. He shouldn't have to start at the bottom, but I also don't think he should be able to negotiate from the very top.
no sir not saying that at all...but if floyd fought malignaggi it would be a bigger fight than hatton fighting malignaggi...your using the debate that the economy had to do with the oscar-pac fight...imo numbers don't lie...1.4 mil compared to 2.4 mil...only oscar is a bigger draw than floyd imo...maybe tito if he were to lose some weight and make some decent fights...but im suggesting that other fighters top there ppv buys out with floyd...floyd-hatton was also the fastest to ever sale out...fighters will make more money for fighting floyd than they would fighting other fighters...the title of this thread is "time to freeze out mayweather" but if tony could make more money fighting floyd rather than another fighter why would tony not take the floyd fight?? Especially being that Tony would kill him (tony's fans opinion, not mine)...
Thats business for ya...I think Floyd has more options than any fighter out there...Pac has options but not all are megafights...Arum himself said if Hatton or Floyd dont wanna fight in a megafight than Judah or Holt is there in a "regular fight"....Floyd can have megafights all around-Hatton, Pac, Tony, Cotto, Williams, Oscar 2 (though I wouldnt wanna see it) could all be megamega fights..I think your looking at it from a fan prospective but it's a business too...If arum (or King, or Oscar, or Lou, etc...) can put more money in his pocket and the there fighters pocket than they probably will...
I see your point. I you are probably right. I am looking at this more from a fan perspective than looking at it from a business point of view. I would agree that all the top guys could make more from a PBF fight. But I would rather see guys in there fighting who are going to stick around. Fights that lead to other things. Not this "one and done" or "ONLY megafights" And with PBF, I think either would be the case. JoeyP
here it is plain and simple for you...PBF is the best fighter on the planet...this is a fact...he is 39-0 and a five division champ. If you hate him u should wnat him to fight the best so he can lose and be proven to be mayrunner or gayweather or whatever u haters call him...he is the top dog...number 1...he fights who he wants when he wants...u r saying now he should not have to fight the BEST??? who the **** is more proven than PBF at 147...NOONE....boxing needs him...if u hate him then hate and watch him fight the best and get beat....don't start this he doesn't deserve to fight the best ****...HE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!dealthumbsup:bbb
You are nothing but a hater of Floyd. What you are saying doesn't even mathematically make sense. You are talking about fighters lives. All Floyd did was retire from the sport because he got bored with it. Fighters want to make money. If they can do it with anyone besides Floyd they would. He retired and came back. He possibly got the hunger back. Talk of freezing him out of anything is about as assinine a thought as I've read in this forum
Yes, lets freeze out the best fighter in the world.... That would punish boxing fans as much as it would punish him.
Has Floyd ever been tough on any fighter during negotiations of a fight...!!!??? What is the true reason why anyone would want to freeze Floyd out of the big fights lol?
