Yep, I think so. I wish HBO did online subscription for international audiences, their coverage with the likes of Manny Stewart in the commentary box is top, a real wealth of knowledge and great round-by-round analysis with incisive stats etc...quailty.

I completely agree. Setanta isn't dead...yet. As for Kerr, I said on another thread earlier it would be a crying shame if we didn't see him on another network presenting the boxing coverage if Setanta does indeed go down the pan. I'd take Kerr any day of the week over the insipid twat that presents the Sky boxing coverage- he knows absolutely nothing about boxing and has no sense of connection with the people watching at home. WE MUST NOT ALLOW ANDY TO BE KERR-MINATED!!!

Lets be honest here. Whilst I feel sorry for those employees who will lose their jobs and can ill afford to, Setanta's management have brought this about themselves and deserve no pity. They were too ambitious and pissed money down the drain.

I've just read that it is believed that Setanta paid £5m for each England friendly international they show... Twats...

Maybe that's why they couldn't afford to send their own commentaters to the US for most fights and left us with the crap international ones... Sky ALWAYS send their own, if you want something done properly, give it to Sky.

 

Setanta were too ambitious. They need to offload some **** and concentrate on some chosen sports. Namely boxing

 

The problem is that they need to offload the football and if they offload the football they'll lose all their subscribers.

Everyone know that as soon as they lost one of the two Premier League packages that they would struggle to survive and the ONLY way I can see them still in existance in a years time is if they become "Free to air" on all receivers.

 

they have to greatly decrease the size of their operation and make themselves a specialist sports channel for golf, ufc, boxing and other less mainstream sports and high profile events in exchange for more international events from more random sports. the monthly subscription would be able to be like 6 or 7 quid a month, make it an add on to another package so more people will pick it up

 

Come on chaps everyone has an opinion on what they should and shouldn't have bought, but its as tedious as a travel to work story. People question why they bothered with the SPL. A third of their subscribers live in Scotland!

I'm firmly on the save setanta bandwagon if we can come up with anything constructive. In the meantime I'll continue to watch the programmes, pay my subs and check their internet site.

I wonder if that recent survey we all filled out will have done any good? Management will have reviewed the results of it (otherwise what was the point) and hopefully boxing scored quite high in the 'Why do you subscribe' list.
If so, and Setanta survives with some rationalisation of the business model then lets hope their excellent boxing coverage continues!

great idea ts, we need to get onto sky and get them to bring back the days whe we were getting big fights for free every 3 to 4 weeks
