My wife does that for me Flo. She doesn't have Pedrozas aesthetically pleasing style though, so the high ground (and voice) is mine even if my testicles resemble pink pancakes. I'm a ****ing winner.

Feels weird just how undervalued Herman is.

I try to stay neutral in these threads, but he's the #1 of the golden age of bantams probably (probably) overhauled by Olivares and co. This will be the third time the forum has chosen to pass on his inclusion and it's probably the most shocking thing about the whole project.

Still, not over yet, I'll have to check on my Pedroza list because I feel like he's had more votes than that, but it is not settled between he and Herman - two weeks to go.

I find Herman difficult to rank. I suspect I underrate him at #9 all time BW, as there are people who have spent more time researching & are more knowledgeable on him than me (including you), who rate him higher.

His BW win resume is outstanding - Kid Williams (2-1-1), Joe Lynch (3-2), Johnny Coulon, Frankie Burns (1-2), Jimmy Wilde & Jackie Sharkey (1-3). That must be a great shout for the best win resume in BW history (perhaps only rivalled by Pal Moore & Ruben Olivares?).

It's his losses that make it hard for me to rank him more highly. Including newspaper decisions he went around 83-19-6 at BW, including an allowance for just over the weight non title fights. I make all 19 of those losses as occurring when he was experienced enough to not be green and young enough to not be shot/way past prime. In addition to his losses to Williams, Lynch, Burns & Sharkey, he lost to Pal Moore x 2, Al Shubert x 2, Kid Regan (avenged, 1-1), Terry McHugh (no-decision WT fight NWS), Young Montreal x 2, Johnny Buff, Midget Smith and Jack Kid Wolfe.

I know he fought so often & against such quality opposition that losses shouldn't be held against him as much as they should more modern fighters. I suppose it also boils down to how much weight you place in "losses" by newspaper decision and how much emphasis you place on world title fights, as opposed to just quality of opposition regardless of whether the title is on the line.

I rank Pal Moore #8. Whilst he lost even more than Herman, if the basis for ranking he, Herman, Kid Williams (my #10), Bud Taylor (my #12) & Joe Lynch (my #14) so highly, despite them all losing so many, is the depth of their win resumes, then Moore having winning records (2-0 vs Herman; 4-3-3 vs Lynch; 2-0-2 vs Taylor and 1-0 vs Williams) against the all of the other 4 best BWs from this golden era, it seems fitting he should rank the highest, imo.

As I say, people more knowledgeable than me on Herman, rank him higher than me, so I'm open to the possibility/probability I'm factoring his losses in too strongly.
