Are you aware of the sordid history of these organizations? Of the pay-offs in the WBA and Jose Silly-Man's whimsical WBC list based on whom he wants to favor that month? They have stripped untold numbers of their own champions when they sought to fight a rival belt-holder.

How about Duk-Koo Kim? He died as a direct result of their nonsense. He was something like 17-1 before he faced Mancini, his opposition was obscure, and there he is at #1 so Mancini had no choice but to fight him? Tell me how he got there. How did Kim earn the #1 spot in the WBA's ratings?

These fools in the WBA and the WBC were small-time beggars -nothing but ****-ant extortion clubs begging for money until The Ring blew it with their ratings scandal in '77 and the networks turned to them for ratings and fake titles. The networks wanted their own ratings, and the public was fooled into thinking that their titles meant something and so tuned in. Meanwhile, they assign judges who can't even add scorecards correctly!

The networks are gone from boxing and the only relevance those grifters and their belts have is the relevance we give them. You're an intelligent man -rethink your position.

PS/ Leonard and Hearns? There "belts" had nothing to do with it and I'll prove it. Mike Trainer drew up the contract for that fight and put it down as a "a 15 round fight for the title." The WBA and the WBC were not even mentioned. And when the 2 organizations belatedly sought to sanction it, they got none of that red carpet treatment that they expected (they only travel first class) -they had to wait in line for credentials like everyone else. I don't think either fighter were extorted via sanctioning fees. THAT's how you treat them. And that's one thing Mayweather has gotten right about them. They need him more than he needs them.

...You -no, we love what the unification fights represent- and that is high-level contests between the best in the division. Most often, the top guys will have the belts because they too have been convinced that these organizations mean something.

But you nor I would care about about Daniel Geale fighting Dmitry Pirog to "unify" their phony MW belts. Sergio and only Sergio is the true successor to Marvin Hagler. Do you believe that the rest just as worthy to identify themselves as such? Geale (I'll bet you that 75% of ESB couldn't tell you who he was or what belt he had and that should tell you something) and Pirog and Chavez Jr. and Sturm are pretenders to the throne.

What can happen eventually if we start right the hell here is a scenerio where there Sergio is alone at the top and we all dump the alphabet soup on the floor and walk away. The top contenders duke it out among themselves -freely, without being forbidden to because they have phony titles, and the top man emerges seasoned and ready to mount a challenge to the throne. It isn't so difficult. Silly-Man and co are fighting for relevance these days. Their days are numbered and in their desperation they're getting worse by devising new "champions" for new "title fights" -all for more revenue. It ain't business, lufcrazy, it's a racket!

I wouldn't include Red Herring. He defeated Pinky Mitchell by DQ in March 25 -but the decision was reversed. It was reversed by a judge (not a boxing judge) A.J. Herring, who was the "custodian of the belt" and who sat on the state commission that "governed the belt." The NBA didn't like that decision so they recognized Herring after he beat Young Ketchell, though they then recognized Callahan after he defeated Pinky Mitchell.

Tippy Larkin was not widely recognized -his title was considered a "trick title" and was abandoned after he beat Willie Joyce. The Massachusetts Boxing Commission revived the title -and it lasted one fight.
