First off let me say the ESB brit forum has improved HEAPS since the snobs went to the other place.

But back in the day the brit forum hardcores were intolerable snobs who thought they knew everything.

Below are my two favourite examples of the Hardcores getting egg on face.

    1. George Groves vs Carl Froch saga

Froch was one of the best british fighters in years, bucking the trend of defending a trinket at home vs latvian road sweepers he constantly sought out the best, and usually won.

Past his prime he met George Groves who he underestimated. His typical slow start lead to a knockdown and a few rounds of getting lit up but Carl weathered the storm. Late in the fight Groves was gassed and starting to take clean shots when the ref jumped in 30 seconds too early.

Cue 6 months of vile abuse, talk of how froch was overrated, his resume sucked, groves had given him brain damage and was going to splatter him easily in the rematch.

    The rest is history

    2. Tyson Fury

Of course nowadays EVERYONE knew fury was this elite talent.

But in reality 95% of the hardcores were accusing him of ducking price, being chinny, having no skills and just being a big fat dude who was euro level AT BEST. "Tony Thompson would school him" is still a favorite line.

The farcical about turn post klitschko is hilarious and now the hardcores have acually gone too far the other way.

Thats what i was thinking lol.
However there is a bit of truth to what hes saying. ESB was quite cliquey back then and whilst the guys that frequented the board back then was in a general a knowledgable lot they could be quite hostile also.
They all moved on quite a few years ago over some issues that were been enforced here.
If u go over to C.H there is still some of the original guys that made the move posting there. And a lot have left alltogether.
Tbh this place went downhill when the exodus took place. For a couple of year at least the standard of posting went downhill.
But the past couple of years has been good again with knowledgable posters frequenting, its not cliquey and as long as u like ur boxing people will reapond to ur posts

Selby Warrington just recently 90% of this forum thought Selby would win a wide ud.
    Haye Bellew 1
I seem to remember Hatton being favorite to win on this board prior to the Floyd fight - brain may be confused with the reaction to the defeat though

I think with Haye v Bellew 1 the general concesous was if Haye is fit and anything like his old self then he will beat Bellew. Personally i still think that.

Wasn't around for the Hatton fight but only people picking him from what i remember were floyd haters and patriotic brits.

Got me on both of them. Never thought much of fury....started rating him in his run up to klitchko....but remember reading on my Facebook the other week a reply I gave to someone asking if fury would beat klitchko. Reply was something on the lines of don't be stupid. Definetely did not think he could pull it off.

Same with groves v froch. Had it down as groves beating him any which way he wanted. Froch quietly fought his way back into that first fight but he took a beating in there. Pretty sure I was on here saying the guy should retire instead of facing groves again. Them head shots might come back to haunt froch in later years as well as the many other punches he took throughout his career.

I still think groves wasn't quite the same fighter that second fight...looked to me like the weight making first started taking its toll even tho he's still at the same weightclass today. He was a lot more laboured that second fight. Add to that froch trained like never before for it holed himself down in Sheffield for weeks at a time. Was enough to turn the tide.

    I'm inbetween hard-core and casual.

I've been wrong a few times, probably more than im correct to be honest, shows what I know.

I had Groves to beat Froch, both times
I had Klitschko to beat Fury.
    I had Klitschko to Joshua.
I had Haye to beat Bellew, both times
I had Eubank to beat Groves.
I had Hughie to beat Parker.
These are off the top of my head.

    For potential future fights.
I have BJS to beat both Golovkin and Canelo.
I have Khan to beat Brook
I have Joshua to beat Wilder and Fury (Not an AJ fan, in fact in think he's a fraud)
I have Groves to beat Smith
I have Eubank to beat Degale.
I also have Ryan Burnett not getting further than the semis in the WBSS
Lawrence Okolie to not get further than Euro level.

How can Joshua be a fraud if he hypothetically beat Wilder & Fury? He'd cement himself as the top dog if he isn't already.

Good to see you Eubank beating Degale. DeGale sweats bullets whenever young Christopher's name is brought up. He doesn't want that work!!

I had an account on here back about 7 or 8 years ago but i cant remember the password or email i signed up with.

It was pretty bad back then, if you didn't agree with the clique you got riddiculed. Those guys drove steve bunce off the site.

I went to bscene which was ok up until mayweather beat pacquiao and particularly ward beat kovalev, nowadays its basically a forum for african american fans so not right for me

Came back here and found a good little community has formed.

Anyone remember ESB before 2004? ESB was here pre 2004, long time ago, at first it was two sites in one, then became one sight. Used to have a chat room, a really fantastic one.......................I think Rummy would remember........................I started posting here when it first came up years ago.................
