Times where out side influences may have affected fights?

Losers usually make excuses.

Biased referees can influence outcomes though. That happens a lot.

 

Tyson punching a hole through the wall must have unnerved Spinks.

 

The 10 round bout between Lance Whitaker and Lou Savarese always comes to mind when a referee inserts himself into a fight. I think it was the 4th round that Whitaker dropped Savarese and referee Steve Smoger begins to count. Smoger is wearing a microphone and can be audibly heard saying during his count. "6...7...c'mon get up...8...9". I don't think Lou would have beaten the count without the coaxing and he went on to win the decision.

 

This one must have been overwhelming, to say the least, for Foreman...

Thousands, seeming like the whole country, chanting... 'Al-e-e-e-eh, Bomaye!'
