I figure, let us get away from the ongoing conversation about a certain fight that may or may not happen.

So i want to get a good analysis of what people think of the difference between the two. Who had good timing but not necessarily good speed, and vice versa and other discussions that can flourish in this type of subject.

Im not sure the correct saying, but its something like speed beats power, but timing beats speed.

Cotto had a good timing against a faster Judah.

    Floyd perfects his shots

Marquez is a master timing his shots such as in the Juan Diaz fight or even the Manny fights.

Mike Mccallum had decent hand speed, but his timing was very good. Wilfredo Benitez did also.

    Timing disrupts speed.

Chavez Sr was never known for his speed, but had excellent timing.

I think timing is essentially boxing ability more specifically, the ability to anticipate the move of your opponent.

The real masters of timing for me is Roberto Duran, Thomas hearns, and Larry Holmes.. Duran used perfect timing to destroy Davy More, Thomas Hearns used timing and leverage to develop KO power.. Larry Holmes use timing to beat faster and stronger opponents even in his old age. Larry Holmes Vs Ray Mercer.

Jmm has great timing. Pacman and Floyd both have great speed and timing, but Id say timing is more important.

you can't time your speed maniac opponent if you're don't have speed to time his speed.

Mastered speed which includes timing overcomes anything = In time Amir Khan will be unstoppable when Roach fine tunes his hand speed ;)
