I'm pretty sure there are other muscles in use (to move the body upwards), the jaw has a very short range of motion- I think the lifting of the lower body is to shift the weight to the jaw/add resistance.

I tried them They are HARD. At first I kept trying to do a sort of plank pushup on my chin, which i determined is physically impossible. Then I rewatched it and realized bradley bridges his hips up first and elevates himself through his cervical spine onto his chin They are doable, they also suck ass and I was only able to do 3, and my scalene muscles were definitely feeling it I think an isometric hold would be the best way to build strength with this exercise
