    Guess not. :D

I can only imagine the uproar if Juan Manuel Lopez said he didn't need to fight Gamboa since he beat R Marquez. I would be pissed.

I just think Alexander was saying Khan needs to fight me, not the other way around. If Devon doesn't find himself on the B-side to a PPV, HBO chooses his next fight. And HBO will choose Khan. Devon has showed no fear of any fighter and had to put the pressure on Bradley to even get this fight. If he wins against Bradley he wants his just do as an A-side.

Too many fans of boxers than boxing itself. I don't even understand it, people, we have a good fight let's just enjoy it for what it is, a boxing match between 2 world class fighters.

If that's what he's saying, that Khan needs to fight him, not the other way around, then that's just one of the dumbest things I have heard. It's the same with BOTH GUYS.

Not to mention, Alexander has no pull here. He may be on HBO, but it's not like he's a showcase fighter. Khan is. And has GBP, which means HBO behind him.

The only way Devon is an A Side, is against scrubs.

I get your point, but to me Berto is boxing, don't think I would even watch if it wasn't for him.

And you expect him to think that way Lance? Devon has been willing to face Khan since Summer 2009 when he won the belt.

Exactly. Hell before facing Kotelnik, Alexander wanted to fight either Khan, Bradley or Maidana. His team thought Alexander will face Maidana next in which they were very happy until Maidana change his mind. Alexander has shown he ain't afraid of any fighters. As ring said, if Alexander wins, he wants to be treated as the a-side. If Alexander face Berto after Bradley, will people bash him for it? I know Mayweather won't fight him or Bradley but i bet ya Alexander will have a better shot at facing Mayweather then Bradley since Mayweather is great friends with Don King. And if Alexander can't get either Pacquiao, Mayweather, Marquez then he will fight Khan i guarantee it.

So when Kevin Cunningham, Alexander's ridiculously underrated trainer and manager, read some quotes from Khan on the Internet saying how much he wanted to come to the United States to make his name, it got Cunningham thinking about how great a showdown between Alexander and Khan would be.

Speaking to Sky Sports in England, Khan said he wasn't interested in fighting countryman and former 140-pound king Ricky Hatton or long-faded Mexican star Erik Morales, two opponents that have been suggested. Instead, Khan said his preference is to fight in America.

"I'd like to fight in the States -- next fight or the one after," Khan told Sky Sports. "Now I'm the world champion, I think it would be great to fight on American TV to let the Americans find out who Amir Khan is. That's the next step for me, exposing myself in America, and that's what we are working towards now."

That was music to Cunningham and Alexander's ears.

"We would welcome the challenge," Cunningham said. "If Amir Khan wants to come to the United States we would fight him in our next fight. He says he wants to fight in America and fight other champions. Well, Devon is American and one of the other champions. It would be a great fight to watch, two young champions, both good kids, both stepping up to the plate and unifying titles instead of picking old guys to fight. We'd love to unify with Amir Khan."

Indeed, it would match two of boxing's emerging stars, both fast and flashy fighters with strong amateur pedigrees.

Cunningham said Don King, Alexander's promoter, told him he was talking to Khan promoter Frank Warren to see if there was any interest in setting up the fight -- or at least a plan to get to it.

Khan, of course, probably will be saddled with a mandatory in his next fight against Dmitriy Salita.

"So give Salita his mandatory shot and let Devon do a fight on the same card and then they can fight each other next," Cunningham said. "HBO or Showtime should be interested in doing something like that. Wouldn't they want to set up a unification between these two young and exciting stars?"

It sure sounds like a great idea to me. I think Alexander has star potential and have since the first time I saw him fight -- when I was ringside for his fourth pro bout in Chicago in 2005. Although Khan suffered an upset first-round knockout loss to Breidis Prescott in 2008, I have also been high on Khan, who I named ESPN.com prospect of the year in 2007.

An Alexander-Khan fight also sounds good to Alexander.

"I would definitely love that. I love competition, plus [fighting Khan] would be for another belt," said Alexander, who received a key to his hometown of St. Louis last week from Mayor Francis Slay in honor of his accomplishment and for "setting a tremendous example for young people in his hometown by stressing the importance of education, citizenship and physical fitness."

"I haven't seen Khan fight, but I have heard good things about him," Alexander continued. "I'll fight whoever, but we can fight. I feel so comfortable that I have a good team and that we had the perfect game plan against Witter. I just want to fight again as soon as possible. I'm young, I didn't suffer anything drastic [against Witter] and I have a lot of energy. I'm ready to go. I'd fight Khan, of course. We've had a lot of names pop up -- Nate Campbell, Juan Diaz, Zab Judah, Marco Antonio Barrera. Those type of names. For me the sky is the limit. I will just train hard. This belt motivates me to train even harder for whoever I fight."

This is from August of 2009. Point is Devon is not ducking anyone.

    Cool, glad to hear.

And yet, now he sayd he doesn't need to face him. Could it have been because, in the summer of 09, Devon didn't have a belt and Khan did?

Calling out someone with a belt is too easy. Now saying you don't need to face the guy in the division, who IS an equal at this point, AND the likley money man of the division? Just too odd.

No, he called out a guy who had a belt, when HE DID NOT have his own. That's something EVERY BOXER w/o a belt does.

It's only NOW that he thinks he doesn't need to fight him.

Devon Alexander has poured scorn on Amir Khan's claims that he is the best light-welterweight in the world, with the American suggesting the Brit is overhyped.

Alexander puts his WBC light-welterweight crown on the line against WBO belt holder Timothy Bradley at the end of January - with the winner likely to be in line to face WBA champion Khan.

Khan has been talking himself as the preeminent light-welterweight in the division, but Alexander feels the Olympic silver medallist has plenty left to prove

"Khan is an OK fighter, but he's no big deal," Alexander said. "People are making a big hype about him but I don't know what all the hype is about.

"He has a little power behind him but people think he is more than what I think he is.

"The winner of Alexander v Bradley doesn't have to go after Amir Khan. The winner of this fight is going to be No. 1 in the division. [Juan Manuel] Marquez is a bigger fight than Khan so it's about chasing him. Khan is not the cash cow at 140lbs.

"The question is, will Khan take the fight? That's the problem. I think he's being pampered. You need to ask Khan and his people."

Show me were he said he would not fight him?
