Tim's honest guy, lays all cards on table. I wish he'd just fight Khan but i see where he's coming from on this. I just think saying it's a risk doesn't help him to much cos people will jump on that comment as they have. There's being honest and to honest .

My main problem with Tim is he's gone from active fighter to a David Haye of Light Welter's.

 

If he's not fighting Khan because he is scared of losing then that is the 100% true definition of a duck.

Poor Bradley ducking Khan for a possibility of a fight with Pac/PBF, fights that will never happen.

 

i always feel it is risky to look ahead in boxing as the fighters are human - they can lose, they can get injured, things change in life etc

pac might never fight him, he might retire. floyd might not think bradley can sell.

ultimately he is a fighter and the khan fight would make him good money in the biggest fight at 140. i think that fight puts him in the sweepstakes way more than anything else. being the unified champ at 140 is big.

arum has probably sold him on the fact he would fight pac in november if jmm doesn't sign. now it looks like bradley will have to wait until may 2012 - a whole year! arum probably still has him sold on the fact he could earn 5 mil for facing pac. however by that stage floyd could fight pac next may.

during all this time bradley could easily fight khan and unify and then move up for a legit fight like ortiz for the title. if he really wanted he could fight another fight in that period.

 

Did you actually listen to the interview? The title is really misleading. He only mentioned the "Pac/Mayweather sweepstakes" once at the end and spent practically the whole of the interview the Khan fight, when he wanted to do that and how he wanted things to be right for when he takes it.

You're making a whole bunch of assumptions on a deal between Arum + Bradley and there's no indication it's solely based on a Pac fight at all.

It is risky to look ahead in boxing, and even if Bradley is confident of beat Khan, anything could happen. If he does take the fight in July and loses, where is he left then? No contract with any promoter, bridge pretty much burnt with Shaw, and Top Rank probably wont want him then. No guarantee of HBO dates, no guarantee of a rematch, no titles, and he's high-risk low-reward for everybody in the division. And remember he'll be fighting on Golden Boy's card against their new golden child.

Khan is just after signing a 4 fight deal with Golden Boy, if Bradley had the same sort of security I doubt he would have a problem taking the fight. If he lets his deal with Shaw run out, he then gets Top Rank behind him, to build him, look out for his interests and provide him some guarantee of future fights.

I doubt Arum sees Bradley as a short term signing to be an opponent for Pac. He's 27, top of his division, American and a personable dude. He'll getting him back fighting regularly, get his name out there and Bradley will be in a much better position than he is after his last 2 years with Shaw.

That's my take on it anyway, based a lot on that Steve Kim article last week.

My post is just assumptions and one mans opinion. Not gospel. My view has always been that the fans will talk but unless the fighter comes out to face those accusations then where there is smoke there is fire.

If Bradley loses, he rebuilds. Why are losses considered so devastating by everyone in boxing! All it does is create the safety approach so many fighters have.

I'll have a listen when I get home but I am still of the same opinion I outlined.
