Not all punchers have to win by stoppage every time out and vice versa. If the guy racks up enough points, then he should be awarded the appropriate decision regardless of style.

I don't disagree with that, but it is apparant to me that Maidana doesn't have the ability to do so, which is my major knock on him, he has almost no technical skill and no strategic mind. He does one thing and one thing only, pressure for a KO.

I think Cayo's success speaks volume, he shouldn't have even been in the fight, but even with his terrible defense, off balance attack, and wide punching he was able to regularly touch Maidana's head and body and move out the way. If Cayo could do that, the more skilled fighters in the division definitely could, especially the ones that have shown the ability to take a punch.

Maidana is more skillfull than you give him credit for. He is actually very good at slipping punches and countering over the top with his own and is one of the better body punchers in the sport right now. A lot of things like his countering and punch placement seem to go unnoticed because he is not as polished as most top level boxers. He has a tendency to sometimes loop punches and throw wide shots. But that's not to say everything is wide or looping, or he's just some thoughtless brawler. I think it was Harold Lederman who mentioned it in the Cayo fight how well he was blocking Cayo's shots when he wasn't going to war with him. The boy loves to mix it up and that often leaves him vulnerable...but when he wants he also can have a decent defense as well. He may very well get "outboxed" at one point or another, but I'm sure he'll make a fight of it the whole time.
