I read somewhere that Bradley is seriously considering moving down to Lightweight, because he cant get big names and other champions to fight him. He said he talked to doctors and I guess they said he wont loose muscle and could get down their and still be healthy. Imo,if he goes down to 135,he will be faster & stronger...............IF HE COULD DO IT WHY NOT!................Your thoughs
I heard this a while ago.. Don't know what he wants to do now though.. He should just stay at 140 and conquer.. I doubt he'll get a fight with Hatton, so he should look for a fight with Malignaggi and Holt and try to unify or maybe look for some fights in Judah, Kotelnik, or maybe even Guzman..
Malignaggi will be in need of a comeback opponent soon, Bradley will fit the bill. In Boxing Monthly he did an interview after he beat Witter, saying that he walks round at 155 - now depending on the nature of those 15lbs, a move to 135 seems a bit far fetched.
Witter didn't have the rematch clause, as Bradley was the mandatory. He wanted a rematch though, but is fighting this Saturday in his comeback fight, apparently.
he should only move down if he has a big fight already planned, if not then its useless. T.Brad vs Lamont Peterson (i think he fights at 140, don't really remember) would be a nice fight.
I actually think he should fight some of these guys, maybe by then Victor Ortiz should be ready or he can fight Urango, then he should move UP to WW and seek more challenges. He's a big lad for 140 and I've been impressed with what I've seen so far. Whilst it's true that Junior Witter always freezes when he's on TV in a big fight, Bradley's dominant win should've been a UD and IMO, Witter had Hatton's number so that shows how high I rated him. He was a NIGHTMARE and Bradley wasn't fazed at all. He came in at short notice and done a number on the hometown (Nottingham was the venue, but it's his own country) fighter spectacularly.
Yeah. Bradley discussed moving to 135 a while ago, but honestly I don't think his power would carry down well, and he wouldn't be quick for a 135 pounder either. Since he's slated to have a unification fight anyway, he should be able to get the pick of the crop at 140, other than Hatton, and he should be able to make enough money staying there. On top of that, there are a number of guys at 135 now who will probably need to move up to 140 in the not too distant future (Katsidis, David Diaz, Barrera, etc.), and there are a number of hot prospects at 140 who have gotten plenty of TV time (i.e. Ortiz, Alvarado, Peterson, etc.), so sticking at 140 and racking up an undefeated record against weaker opposition is probably the better career move than moving down to 135 and risking losing to an inferior opponent because he's weight drained. I don't think moving up is much of an option. While he's muscular big, he's pretty small even for 140 in terms of height and reach, and he would just get towered over by most of the bigger fighters at 147. He's a solid fighter, but I don't think he's good enough to beat the second-tier of fighters at 147 (Clottey, Cintron, Quintana, etc.), all of whom are MUCH bigger than he is.
