    Esquiva Falcao

Not to be confused with his brother Yamaguchi Falcao (who had a bizarre debut himself)

If Pena wasn't so hesitant and threw more he'd land.

This Falcao guy is pretty damn exciting. Let's hope he doesn't punch himself out.

Falcao's defense is a tad leaky though from what I see. Very susceptible to the right cross.

What is there not to like about Seanie Monaghan? :?

    Nobody overrates him.

Monaghan has never been anything other than a solid regional prospect, and not even his biggest supporters ever said he was a future champ (let alone division ruler, which could be enough hype to warrant all this knee-jerk hating...)

I myself, having been a fan of his crowd-pleasing style - while acknowledging his obvious limitations - have estimated his ceiling to be probably whooping Mike Lee, who Monaghan has been calling out for years. That just kind of serves the point that he shouldn't be hated on; he knows who & what he is. He never said he would kick Bernard Hopkins' ass or anything. He thinks landing Mike Lee in the ring would be the summit of all his work over the years. Pretty realistic and humble view.

Just because he landed a few PPV undercard appearances doesn't mean he's being shoved down anyone's throat, I don't think.

He didn't have major promotional backing until Top Rank signed him a year ago. Before that he was under mid-level/small-fry (compared with Top Rank or Golden Boy Promotions) DBE.

Obviously the likes of Stevenson or Kovalev - or hell, even Fonfara - annihilates him.

He puts asses in seats, especially in the NY area, so TR sees in him a moderate asset, someone who can fill out a card and provide some almost guaranteed action to whet the fans' appetite, even away from home where his fan base is - disproportionate to his modest talents, as is often the case with homegrown local stars - rather lucratively sizable. I highly doubt Arum plans on maneuvering him up the rankings and grooming him for an undeserved world title shot, if that is the worry.

    Leave my dude alone. :nono

...and FYI, nobody who clearly and widely outpoints Rayco Saunders fair & square can be deemed a "bum". :finger
