Absolutely. I'd have no qualms right now over anyone who rated him over Cotto, Williams, or Dawson. The instant he signs with HBO, he'll get that spot- and I'm absolutely delighted by people seeing the politics involved now. When you look at the fact he was technically unified despite being stripped instantly, won his title in the UK, and defended his title against a young, unbeaten mandatory in an excellent performance, it's really nothing less than what the lower end of the top 10's accomplished. Here's a little bit I posted about Bradley after the fight last night: "I doubted him tonight for the last time. 3 times I picked against him, and 3 times he's come through showing me a quality intangible I didn't expect to see, but that great fighters have. I'm officially sold on Tim Bradley now. Against Witter, he outboxed a significantly more experienced man as the traveling fighter in the UK in his first real high-caliber fight. Against Holt, he came off the canvas and not only survived a monster shot, but was right back in Holt's grill practically immediately. That essentially killed Kendall's fighting spirit right there for the fight. And now against Peterson, he was able to draw the counterpuncher into attacking and showed good patience and aggression in scoring while moving, which typically isn't his style. Those are the kinds of things even some championship fighters don't have. I'll say this much: the kid's the goods and has fewer holes in his game now from that standpoint than a good number of fighters more highly regarded than him. Smart fighter, too."
He unified the WBC and WBO belts but was stripped of the WBC belt. Most of the guys who are ranked in the top 10 p4p have never unified.
Bradley fights like a ***** .... his fight last night had almost one of the rounds of the year (3rd or 4th) , had the crowd going nuts .... but then his trainer basically tells him not to fight and he begins his best mayweather impression after that. I can't stand watching guys like Dirrell , Bradley, Malinaggi , and even mayweather sometimes .. they do not fight like warriors ... does it win ? Yes, but it's just not the type of style I like to see in a fighter
Unless he fights a big name like a Hatton or a JMM it isnt going to happen, his only chance is to unify again or take the Hopkins route and have liek 20 title defenses which could take years.
It's the most widely used p4p ranking system out there. Given that the TS was asking about Bradley being a top 10 p4p fighter, what other ranking system should I use?
I can't answer which system you should use, but I can say without a doubt that ever since Oscar bought it, the Ring's got an incestuous relationship with HBO. In exchange for better budgets and support for Golden Boy fighters from HBO, The Ring gives out P4P rankings to HBO fighters. Use the Ring if you please. Just be aware that it's P4P rankings are really just an advertising arm for HBO now.
Well you could do what I do, I usually take the consensus of all the P4P rankings from any respectable boxing site along with boxing fans posters and get an idea of who should be on it and where. P4P list are so debatable its foolish to view 1 p4p list as the "premiere" list we should base on.
So I should just use my own list? He's already in my top 10 p4p. However, he's not far off from getting on most p4p lists.
Yeah you should IMO and hes not that far off from mine either, Id put him at around 12-15 for now. For me he needs 1 big win or another unification bout to make him solid in the top 10.
