1st fight: Holyfield opened up at 28/1 & 18/1 come fight night, my missis stuck $200 on Holyfield after i told her not too hence i never saw a ****in penny:fire

 

I thought I'd remembered seeing 28/1 somewhere but wasn't sure......

My dad backed Turpin to beat Sugar Ray Robinson in the first fight who must have been quite an outsider.

 

Tyson got between the bookies and their good senses.

No champion should ever be a 24/1 favourite over any challenger with a pulse.

 

I can believe it.

They probably got stung worse than with the Douglas fight because a good few people would have seen their error.

 

I think the douglas fight was something like 33/1, off the top of my head.

 

Hopkins-Pavlik was one upset I called without any hesitation whatsoever. It just seemed so obvious that Hopkins would wipe the floor with Kelly.

I also predicted the Williams and McBride wins over Tyson, Cory Spinks over Mayorga, as well Maskaev over Rahman.

 

Is that right? So the odds didn't just reflect the market in this case? They also got clobbering on it?

 

I wouldn't say that I had no hesitations but I saw that one coming.

 

I think it was pretty clear Hop was going to do it. Pavlik's style was tailor made for him, especially at a weight where Pavlik had already proven sub-standard (in regards to his form at 160_ in the rematch with Taylor.

I just didn't predict it would be such a schooling :good

 

Most of my bets have been in the Heavyweight Division. Upsets I had in Heavyweight Linear Championship fights, where the title changed hands: I bet on Patterson over Johansson II, Ali over Liston I, Foreman over Frazier I, Ali over Foreman, and Foreman over Moorer...made some good money on all 5 of those. Unfortunately I didn't have some of the best ones, like Walcott over Charles III, Leon Spinks over Ali, Michael Spinks over Holmes, Douglas over Tyson, and Rahman over Lewis...in fact, I lost money on all 5 of those. I love betting on boxing! :nut
