This is the 2nd fight in a row where Korobov is getting robbed. Haymon is doing a bad job on him. He is being set up for failure.

He's a really nice guy too and he spent 4.5 years of his prime or relatively prime years after the loss against Lee, a fight in which he was winning handily, treading water in obscurity fighting scrubs and journeymen and he's 36 years old now and he had an extremely extensive amateur career (300-12) so that makes it an even more bitter pill to swallow as time is not on his side. Truth be told, he left his best form in the amateurs and was already past his best before he even turned over, IMO.

Seems like he was really looking forward to this fight and grateful to be back in the mix

If Quillin didnt duck Korobov his career would have been completely different. If I was Korobov I would absolutely despise Kid Chocolate, but at the same time, he should have been more careful against lee.

I forget about Peter Chocolate ducking him. He was set to fight David Benavidez too (although I'm glad he didn't) but that one fell through as well.

He was unlucky against Lee, I think he was too proud to take a knee after getting caught flush by Lee's pet and extremely potent right hook, had he done so he might well have recovered and gone on to win the fight. He's been badly hurt numerous times but he's a stubborn SOB and he refuses to go down.

The fight was declared a draw after they recounted the judge's cards and your beard is very drag king-esque.

Koborov's twitter is depressing as hell. Dude is responding to people lol and has like 800 followers. This guy in his prime would have been one of the best MW of this era. I doubt he's made enough money to retire too, seems like a really nice humble dude.

lol he probably started becoming active on it when he couldn't get a break regarding securing meaningful fights after the Lee loss.

Yeah he's a good guy and it's a shame how his career has panned out because he was one of the best amateurs I've ever seen and he could've achieved so much more if he wasn't so unlucky.

Given his technique and skills I hope he becomes a trainer one day and teaches the Eastern European style in the states.

Guy was an EE 'great white hope', also had a K name. He was obviously a KKKorobov, just like KKKovalev, made for robberies. If KKKovalev hadn't beaten Cleverly, even Cleverly would have become KKKleverly in Murrica, but got a little less robbed because he was Welsh.

Thats what Haymon wants us to do, forget. That also would have been a big payday for Korobov too. Roc Nation Sports was pooping money trying to get into the fight game. I'll never forget as long as Quillin lives how he blew a big chance at some real money. Korobov is just another top guy getting railroaded by the politics and fame in the WWE, I mean, boxing.

Kovalev is not and never was as skillful as Matt Korobov. Thats delusion cooked up by HBO and suckers like you believing the hype. If Kovalev was half as skilled he would have never dropped that Draw to Darnell Boone and then had to have a bunch of tune up fights just to face him again. Also the KKK is American as apple pie and even they don't like Russians pal.

Yet frauds in this sport talk there way into being multimillionaires
Just look at that irish lad one exhibition fight claiming he is boxing
Earns more than two hand fills of what seasoned pros will never get near
Love the sport but hate the politics corruption and the way boxing is run
It's a sport to pro e your worth not talk about what you think your worth
    Joke at times

    Interview from last year

MATT KOROBOV: ‘I’M A BEAST AND I’M STUCK IN A CAGE!’

He is 35, and while you can say age is just a number, it would be wrong to not acknowledge that even in today’s world, 35 isn’t young for a fighter.

Even with supplements and the most judicious of training regimens, a person’s athletic peak, physically speaking, is likely in the rear view mirror at 35. So one can understand and sympathize with how 28-1 super middleweight Matt Korobov is feeling on this day.

“My career in the last year is almost nonexistent,” he told The Ring. “I am super frustrated! I am not a big name. I am super dangerous. My background is stellar — 338-12 lifetime. My skills are superb. So I think people don’t want to fight me because until I am a bigger draw, it’s tough to get big fights. Chicken before egg type stuff. Even if I got some decent fights in undercards the the public can watch, that would help. We have reached out to all the big promoters with zero response. I could make some of those guys some serious money; I have a lot left in the tank. That’s also very frustrating. Bottom line is I’m a beast and I’m stuck in a cage! It’s real tough to get out; I’m not even sure how to get out. Just need couple of decent fights and I believe I should have a belt or belts.”

Korobov was on the ascent, then stumbled in getting stopped by Andy Lee in 2014. He’s fought four times since. Korobov beat Scott Sigmon in 2016 and last gloved up on March 24, 2018, vs. Jonathan Batista.

He spoke of the ups and downs in the past year …

“Training and my team and family (wife, son, plus his mom and dad live with him in Florida) have been the best part of the last year. The downs have been being so close to a good fight. David Benavidez I believe wanted the fight. I respect him for taking the fight (which was supposed to happen in July). He is young and made some mistakes, but that comes with being young and that’s why the fight didn’t happen. It was very disappointing. David had two promoters, the deal was signed and the fight was going to happen. He is young; he made a mistake. (Benavidez was signed to Sampson Lewkowicz but accepted a deal with Top Rank while contracted to Lewkowicz, and then Lewkowicz protested, and the Benavidez-Top Rank marriage was scuttled.) He will learn from it. Unfortunately if affected my career. I don’t blame a young person for making mistakes. I made plenty of mistakes and still make them. So just an unfortunate situation.”

How does he stay with chin up?

“My family and amazing trainers and Charles Mooney help to keep me focused.

“My main trainer, Mooney, is the guy who is like family to me. He has stuck by my side my entire career. He is basically working on standby, and by not having a fight he also hasn’t got paid. To sum it up, Charles Mooney is the man! No other trainer I know puts more heart into this game than Mooney. Matty Cerdone is another guy who is like a brother and has stuck by me through thick and thin.

“It’s very trying at times. But I have a family to support and my boxing is the only way I can do that. I am the breadwinner. Problem is, if I don’t fight I can’t win! So that drives me everyday.”

I didn't watch his fight last night, but he needs to learn how to close a fight. I'm reading he lost the last three rounds. Jermall was knocking him around at the end of their fight (not a robbery). And of course he fell apart against Andy Lee.

The guy needs to fix his cardio because he already has as much skill as anyone.
