Shannon Briggs calls himself a 2 time heavyweight champion of the world...
Herbie Hide is a 2 time Heavyweight champ of the world...just like the original guys Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali, Tim Witherspoon.....Funny how Hides name is never mentioned among the heavyweight elite champions to accomplish such feats...

Am I the only one who's tired of this bull****? In the old days, fighters fought each other, they moved divisions to face new fighters, new challenges. They fought the best of their weight class, and then move on to another to challenge the top of other divisions.

Today? Take a boxer like Floyd Gayweather. He's never really cleaned up a division, he's moved up in weight to get easy titles, ducking the serious competition, only to try to ***gotly mimic the great fighters of the past without really doing all the work. It's all just like a bad publicity stunt, not really putting in the work while pretending you've worked like no man ever did in the past...

Again, take Gayweather. His first title was genuine, did a couple defenses, most of them against people the majority of boxing fans never heard of... He then fought Castillo, who many thought won, and soon after it was pretty much over with that, it would be all coasting from there, the challenges had been met it seemed, and it would be cherry picking from then on.

So he went on to fight Arturo Gatti, "C+ level fighter" I think Floyd himself said, who had had more wars than an old hooker had dicks, and although he had heart, just didn't have it to compete at the top level... Then it was Zab Judah coming off a loss to C.Baldomir, (and C.Spinks) for a vacant title, and still Zab gave him a lesson for the first half of the fight and his first unofficial knockdown... Then Baldomir, who is hardly a reference or legend... Then it was an old De La Hoya, an old overweight Marquez, "Propaganda fights to make him look good", an old Mosley... It's pretty damn pathetic.

There's tons of fighters he could have fought. Hell, tons of fighters he should have fought... Just at WW, a few names that could have been on his resume: Winky, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, Pac, Williams, Martinez, etc... Others he could have earlier, Hatton @ 140, Casamayor, Freitas, Tszyu, Johnston, Spadafora, Forrest, etc.

It's the same BS as undefeated. Unless you really fight the serious people in the different weight classes, and not just go for the easy pickings, it means absolutely nothing. Especially when the list of "People ducked" is twice as long as the "people fought", and half of the names of the "people fought" list were smaller, out of their prime, coming off losses, etc.

It's ****ing gay is what it is. Step the **** up, or shut the hell up... Going for easy titles instead of fighting the fights is one of the things which is wrong for boxing. Too ****ing bad that boxing doesn't have a rating system worth **** which would actually force fighters to fight the fighters they should be fighting...

Now what, I saw a thread about Gay fighting Spadafora? Like RJJ vs Hopkins, about 10 years too late... Who the hell wants to see that fight? Who wanted to see the fat old Marquez fight? I love boxing, but at the same time, I hate it, because of ***gotry like that... Fights happen so rarely, and they they do, it's all too often a turd of a matchup...
