16 titles are currently held by fighters from behind the iron curtain. This is almost 25% of all titles in off.

From middleweight up a whopping 13 out of 18 titles are held by fighters from behind the iron curtain too. And this is only the first wave of these fighters

It's part of both continents but the iron curtain is no more. But still the biggest question remains; what is this thread about?

    Statistics?

Of course it's no more. I'm talking about former communist countries that weren't aloud turn pro before the fall of the iron curtain

It just goes to show with their amount of titles and the UK currently having the most fighters holding titles that stricter drug testing has levelled the USA. Drug up supermen like Jones Jr, Mayweather, Holyfied, Mosley, Toney, Tarver, etc, etc may well be a thing of the past.

The era of hardwork & medication is over. The era of hardwork & dedication has begun. :happy:happy:happy

They currently hold a ridiculously high preportion of titles especially in the higher weights. Really would make you think what the history of boxing would look like if they were always pros

They have 1 if you count regular champs in Lara because Rigo's been stripped.

As a child I enjoyed watching Stevenson. He was more than excellent HW. Unfortunately he had never became a PRO. Could you imagine him against Ali, Fraiser, Norton, Foreman, Holmes ?? I'm a little disappointed about Gamboa, I expected him to be undisputed champion(130), but he made great mistake and moved up (135) and met Crawford. Eastern Europian are much bigger (I mean average people) than the rest except USA and Canada, there is still lot of poverty, and you can bet that there 'll be much more EE champs in the future.
