when he fought oscar. Some people say he was weight drained. an argument bolstered by him moving up in weight right and looking super sharpe and powerful against david reid and fernando vargas but then again he looked great against pineda and sweet pea before he fought dlh
Extremely. I've always said that had Oscar just put the pedal to the damn metal, he'd have stopped Tito in a few rounds. Trinidad was dead and completely outclassed that night. That Oscar found a way to lose, even by ludicrously bad decision, is more an indictment on him that a testament to Trinidad. He had nothing but heart and will to win that night, everything else was weak and below par.
i dont thinks so. he was always gonna struggle with that type of fighter. he looked strong personally, he was always sluggish and was always getting dropped at welter and light middle. he looked a small middleweight and a average sized 154lber. i didnt think he was a big drainer either. he is a slight guy. small shoudlers small hips skinny legs. and barely over 5'11. i dunno. vivian harris and diosbelys looked about the same hiehgt and stature to him. he had a frame that could hang a bit of extra weight. ill preperations for the fight. now thats something i think happend
I can concede this. All I know is, that is the weakest looking Trinidad that ever fought at 147. He looked emaciated, with bags under his eyes at the weigh ins, and Oscars left hooks and right hands were doing things to his legs even when they werent thrown with Oscars full body weight.
I always thought Trinidad was weight drained for most of his welterweight career. Even though his upper body was skinny and lanky, he was tall and his lower body was pretty filled out. A lot of what made him so explosive was his ability to make welterweight and have the punching power of a middleweight, so Im not so sure he was weakened by dropping the weight and didnt really fight like it, but he definitely was closer to the point of not being able to make the weight again.
