DLH v Tito was a close fight ...

I had it 115-113 for Tito ... no bias involved thats my favorite fight to watch from a boxing stand point and i've watched the fight over 100 times.

I think Oscar took him to school 8 rounds to 4, but got jobbed on the careds because he ran like a girl the last 4 rounds.

Tito clearly lost the first 7 (I thought 8) rounds. Oscar controlled the pace, landed the better puches and way more of them, and was the much better ring general. Im no DLH fan, but no way he lost that fight without any knockdowns.

Fair enough in regards to Cotto... I personally think he could potentially do it, although he needs to prove himself more before i will make such a prediction.

With Mayweather, he is still a great fighter at 147. Still a guy who will be very hard to beat, and one of the best movers in boxing.

I personally think that Tito is extremely susceptible to being pot shotted against a good counter puncher. He doesn't have enough explosiveness when coming forward, he only really puts his punches together better once he has set.

Floyd would know this, and would circle and potshot, and use his defence to nullify the offense of Tito. Tito would be fairly easy for someone like Floyd to defend against. His punches and combinations are all fairly text book. He doesn't really possess the handspeed, the defence or the effective pressure to bother PBF.

The explosiveness of Oscar is what stopped his normally effective moevement IMO. Tito simply doesn't have this, and often times even in heis prime against movers, would simply follow them around the ring. You say Floyd doesn't move well at 147, but look what he did vs Baldomir. His movement if nothing else in that fight was sensational.

Obviously Tito and Baldomir are worlds apart in terms of ability, but it still showcases what he could do to a guy who fights like Tito. I think this overall is an extremely bad style match up for Tito.

In your opinion, if Oscar could trouble Tito so greatly with movement, why could Mayweather not do the same, who even at 147 has MUCh better overall movement then prime Oscar???

Because Oscar stayed on his bike while maintaining a steady offensive attack that carried the power to hurt Trinidad if he got careless. Mayweather spends more time on the ropes where he picks countering opportunities. He doesn't have the chin to take Trinidad's shots either, and rest assured, Trinidad would find him.

I agree that Tito is a terrible style match up for Cotto. I am probably his biggest supporter on these boards though, and am no doubt terribly biased in any fantasy match up involving Cotto. I am hoping that against Marg and Berto etc, he showcases a tonne of skill as a boxer puncher. If he can do this, and really outbox these guys effectively more then anything, then maybe what i said could be true. In reality though, it is most probably unlikely.

I think Floyd is still a good mover at 147. The only thing that really limits him now though is being slightly smaller, and maybe giving away that bit of reach. Still, Tito apart from his great left jab in his prime, too often just comes forward at a very predicitable pace. I think PBF would be a terrible terrible match up for him in this regard.

Fair enough, the thing i probably disagree with you on, is that i don't think PBF lays on the ropes that often, apart from the De la hoya match up. I am watching a couple other fights at 147 right now to have a look!

I hope to see major defensive improvements against Margarito. And I also hope to see Cotto beat him from the outside with movement and accurate punching, then step it up on the inside, busting Margarito up and countering in between his wider punches. A TKO victory would be HUGE for Cotto with regards to the casual fan's perception of him.

IMO Cotto is only just now starting to realise his full potential. Lets hope I am right...

I expect him to get better and better over the next couple fights until he reaches his peak.

Watching his fight vs Baldo now, and his movement is unreal.

In regards to your other post, i don't think Oscar was carrying any power at all against Tito. He really was just using great movement, and very fast combinations, shoeshinning Tito. Mayweather certainly couldn't throw combinations like Oscar, but makes up for this IMO with his greater defence.

Against Hatton, i don't think you can use effective movement, because Hatton is SO fast coming in. More so then anything, you need to stand your ground and pick him apart, which is eventually what Floyd did.

His corner told him "box, box, box", not "run, run, run". They said "no more rounds like that" after the 10th, but DLH ran more after that.

And as far as DLH's legs being shaky, well that's what Oscar said in the Legendary Nights episode.
