Tito Ortiz claims Fedor Emelianenko has never been properly tested over the years

June 29, 2010 All MMA News, Strikeforce, UFC 27 Comments
Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz has never been one to shy away from saying what’s on his mind, this time claiming former number one ranked heavyweight in the world, Fedor Emelianenko has never been tested properly and that Saturday’s loss to Fabricio Werdum just showed the mistakes he’s prone to making.

    Speaking via Sherdog.com, Ortiz said:
“Fedor finally fought somebody on a great level, and it just showed the mistakes that Fedor makes on the ground. Werdum is somebody that I actually know, and I did an interview in Dallas for ESPN Radio and I called it. I knew he was going to beat him. I just felt that once Fedor fought someone with great talent, he would finally get his loss. You can’t believe the hype, as they say.”
“Has he ever been tested? Maybe once or twice? You can’t say you’re the best in the world if you haven’t competed against everybody in the world, and he hasn’t. And I think by him not coming to the UFC put a big (stain) on his record. You can have a company back you and say you’re the best guy in the world, but until you compete against the best guys in the world, you’re not that guy.”
“It just proves that he’s not invincible and that he’s not one of the top heavyweights in the world. I think he’s a decent fighter overall, but I was very proud of Werdum, though. That’s what comes with hard work.”
Ortiz has rarely been out of the headlines himself this past year, from returning to the UFC after falling out publically with Dana White to pulling out of “The Ultimate fighter” reality show as coach after injuring his neck, it’ll be interesting to see what the future has in store for “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy”.

Tito you're not relavent anymore and neither is your opinion. Go away. And this time dont come back.

  2. TITO CHECK OUT WHO FEDOR HAS FOUGHT.

-Fedor fought against top Pride fighters and won
-He fought against top K-1 level kickboxers and traded punches and won
-He fought against Olympic level wrestlers on the ground and won
-He fought against ADCC champions on the ground and won (excluding Werdum)
-He fought against the best Judo fighters and won
-He fought against the 40% of UFC's champions and won

Its impossible for Fedor to fight EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD, one man simply cant fight thousands of fights every year as what Tito wants Fedor to do.

Finally what would Fedor (the GOAT) achieve in going to the UFC? When these UFC fighters themselves havent fought the best from around the world since they are not allowed to fight the champions of other promotions or even the champions from other countries. All of these new breed of UFC champions havent proven themselves in the long run and are still noobs to the game. Heck Carwin who at the time was the #1/2 ranked UFC HW fighter doesnt even have the cardio past 4 minutes - you would expect this type of un professionalism from an amateur level fighter.

Tito, its actually Zuffa that promotes its fighters as the best in the world without them being allowed to challenge the best from around the world. Just have a look at many of Zuffa's HW records, most of their opponents are against American (predominantly) and sometimes a couple of Brazilians and some from Europe (so far only Brock has fought an Asian).

Brock Lesnar - 5 Americans and 1 Korean
    Shane Carwin - 10 Americans, 1 Brazilian, 1 England and 1 Hungary
    Roy Nelson - 15 Americans,3 Brazilians, 1 Netherland and 1 Belarus
Junior dos Santos - 9 Brazilians, 2 Netherlands, 1 Croatia and 1 American.
    Cain Velasquez - 5 Americans, 1 France, 1 Bosnian and 1 Australian.

NOW LETS COMPARE THIS TO FEDORS

    Fedor Emelianenko - 9 Americans, 7 Brazilians, 2 Bulgarian, 1 Belarus, 1 Georgian, 1 South Korean, 7 Japanese, 2 Australians, 1 Croatian, 1 Trinidad, 1 Lithuania, 1 Netherlands, and 1 UK.

What a ludicrous claim. He had a long dry spell of non-championship level fights, but he has been tested, and appears to want to be again.

If Fedor fought Audley Harrison you guys would be praising him for fighting an Olympic winning super-heavyweight boxer, former world boxing champion (WBF), with 20KOs.

I mean seriously...listing Hong-Man Cho, Zuluzinho, Mark Hunt, Lindland* as credible fighters to face the world's best heavyweight or the MFC or PWP as credible championships is pathetic.

*Before anyone starts - the guy's a MIDDLEWEIGHT!

The man is 5-6 in his MMA career, and was coming off a loss to Barnett when he fought Fedor. Good kickboxer but didn't have the ground game to be a true threat in MMA.

Spend more time watching his fights instead of surfing Sherdog looking at records.
