Tito Ortiz is ready to step back in the Octagon. He will have a tough test ahead of him when he does, as he has agreed to face Ryan Bader at UFC 132 in July. Sources close to the fight confirmed the bout to MMAWeekly.com on Monday. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_y...ug=mmaweekly-0fa85800798cd02db0c96966b078f5af
A good gimme fight for Bader. But he should be developing his stand up if he wants to improve and doesnt need another takedown contest
yea if he improves his striking he will be a force to be wrecking with. He is pretty strong and is a good wrestler. He needs to train with freddie roach to improved his stand up. Look at how gsp has improved. Striking and his wrestling is a scary combo.
His stand up will never be elite level like Reem or Anderson in MMA terms. Should be focusing on being the next Hendo/Chuck type imo. Im not expecting him to work behind the jab or shoulder roll combined with axe kicks. Simply not going to happen. But he should concentrate and doing more than swinging for the fences with his right hand. Chuck was a counter striker primarily and Hendo is wild sometimes but is quite patient when throwing bombs.
**** it let him be a stepping stone for bader. If he wants to keep fighting and get smashed then let him do it. I know dana would enjoy watching that happen.
Tito is a good wrestler himself. I wouldn't underestimate him if i was bader. He is capable of giving bader a beating via ground and pound.
What the **** is Tito going to do here ? This isnt Jon Jones old Tito is going to shoot doubles from a million feet away, Bader will stuff it like its nothing and proceed to beat him up similar to the Chuck Liddell fights.
Tito WAS a good wrestler. His knee's are shot to ****. A wrestler with no knee's is like tits on a bull. Look at how useless Coleman and Randleman when their knee's went. Tito has no chance whatsoever. He's on a hiding to nothing.
I'd be surprised if Tito can make it through training without injuring himself. Most likely this bout will turn into Bader vs Forrest by fight night.
I thought his blend of boxing and wrestling would be much better against Hamill and he would be fit. Truth is, he is old. He isn't in that great shape. He is not Frankie Edgar or someone like that. Bader is stronger with more power. I fear youth will win the day unless Ortiz can turn back the hands of time and use sharp boxing blended with intelligent wrestling.
