If Sugar Shane (his 1999 welterweight self) fought Tito Trinidad (his 1999 welterweight self)...what happens? Does Shane's slick boxing and busy, hard-driving style get over on the Puerto Rican puncher? Or does Trinidad's vaunted power and accuracy hurt Mosley early and change the complexion of the fight in Tito's favor?
Mosleys warrior spirit is likely is undoing in this one imo. While he does have speed on his size he isnt the most elusive and does like to brawl. I can see tito sweeping the last few rounds for a close but clear decision win.
Trinidad. Either by late stoppage, or he would hurt Shane enough times for the decision. Mosley's tendency to trade, which he did far more often than slick boxing, hurts him against a guy as precise and lethal with his power as Trinidad was. Tito probably gets dropped along the way as well. Great fight.
Mosley has NEVER been a slick boxer. He is more of a Boxer/puncher than a slick boxer. Mosley is a fighter first and foremost, and against Trinidad i think that would cost him. NO one has ever successfully stood infront of Trinidad at 147lbs, and not paid the price for it. Joppy was a natural 160lbs fighter, and he got hammered. Hopkins used lateral movement to offset Trinidad's punching power. Even Hopkins recognized the punching power of Trinidad as a danger. Even though Hopkins is probably a natural 175lbs boiling down to 160.
it would be hard to say since Mosley has never been knocked out, he's been down but never out - still, i think Tito wins by UD. Mosley would give him hell though
