"A super fight between Puerto Rican ring legends Felix “Tito” Trinidad and Miguel Cotto could become a reality according to El Nuevo Dia. The paper claims “a source” informed them Cotto and Tito could meet in June at a catch weight between 158 and 164 pounds. Cotto has been considering moving up in weight to 154. Trinidad has weighed 160 and 170 for his last two fights. Almost plausible. Unfortunately the story is a “Día de Los Santos Inocentes” prank."

Its a terrible idea for Cotto a guy who is young close to his prime to jump up so high in weight cause it will hurt him when he wants to come back down to 147. I dont think its a good idea. Other than a paycheck there is no legacy to be gained in beating a shot trinidad and there is the slight chance he gets KOed and the good chance that he messes with his body going up and going back down

tito looked decent vs. a shell of roy, but i really dont think tito can get below 165. he was able to pull the trigger cuz roy was taking his best shots and basically was letting him, but cotto wouldn't dare stay in front of tito even this watered down version. i really don't see this happening.

if there was a scenerio in which it did, what would it prove? i don't think cotto is completely done yet and would like for him to get some redemption on margo to see if the first time was really a fluke or not. thats the most important fight for miguel at this point and despite many people thinking both cotto and margo are finished, it might be the last superfight with a great payday for both because everyone would want to see it

tito had his time this is cotto's time. tito should go fight arreola or fres oquendo

    Trinidad will not make 158lbs.

Actually, it is a joke. If you look on fightnews, then after the report of Cotto/Trinidad, it states it just a prank!

Trinidad can't make 160lbs, let alone 158lbs. Cotto should not even move up to 154lbs, let alone an even higher weight. He can still make Wleter safely enough so why move up. There are still some big fights left for Cotto.

He's only 29. Ok, he has been in some hard battles, but he's a quality fighter, so he can mount a serious comeback.

Tito should not fight anyone. After Roy Jones there is not much left for him in boxing unless he comes back and becomes a full time fighter and puts in the time. Just saying he wants someone after not fighting for years is ridiculous.
