What kind of amateur background did Tito possess?

He was 51-6 as an amateur if I'm not mistaken and won 5 puerto rican amateur championships in 5 different weights. I used to know him when we were both really young and even saw him workout a couple of times and sparring (I used to train sometimes in the gym Tito and Trinidad Sr. frequented) and the kid had talent but we never thought he would be so successful.Who knows how he would have done if he had gone to the olympics. He was always such a nice guy, even to this day. He is one of the most humble and down to earth people you will ever meet. That's why he's like a God in PR.

Not too many stories unfortunately :( I talked to him at times and stuff but didn't want to bother the guy so I did not stand in his way. To be honest, the kid had mad talent but I never realized he was going to be so successful and at one point one of the top two or three pound 4 pounders in the world. If I had just known in advance. LOL. Here were we're from , PR, it's so small that you always see the boxers everywhere. Cotto for instance is ALWAYS partying 24/7 and is always with like 10 incredibly hot women, even though he is married lol; then he wonders why he gets tired in fights. Another one who I saw was Edwin "Chapo" Rosario, he was one of my idols growing up. He was in rehab in the same place as one of my cousins. It was pretty ****ed up seeing such a good former champion in that condition. Tito ,luckily, always kept himself out of trouble and he even told me once he had never tasted alcohol. He kept himself healthy.

Thanks for the insight. I picture Cotto exactly like you paint him.
