Tito vs Bud

I was very impressed with Bud in his last fight, I know people say Spence was not the same, but Bud had a lot to do with it.

This would be an interesting fight and competitive IMO; I think who imposes their will and game plan wins.

Bud is adaptable and smart, but Trinadad had power.

 

Not really, at lightweight he was dropped by Narciso (Im not Fernando!!) Valenzuela and Giorgio (Im not Armani!) Campanella, and at welterweight by Pernell (Im not Forrest!) Whitaker. He was also dropped at welter by Ike (Im not Eisenhower!!) Quartey but that last one i can forgive. Remember, Tito-De La Hoya was expected by the press to be a knockdown-fest war (and ironically while it wasnt a bad fight, a war with knockdowns certainly it wasnt , it was actually a no-knockdown fight)

 

Bud has never seen anything like Tito in his life. And bringing up Hopkins and Winky is unfair in this hypothetical because they were Middleweights. Very good-Great Middleweights.

Gun to my head, I see Trinidad getting the knockout. Second hardest puncher in Welterweight history IMO and Bud can be hit.

 

Seriously, not ROY Campanella?

 

Hmm? I doubt he hit harder than Cuevas , definitely a top 4 or 5 in power.

 

I'd like to say Crawford as I think stylistically he could give Tito a lot of problems plus I'm a bigger fan of Crawford. At the same time, Tito handled and manhandled a number of boxer/punchers who were more skilled than him, he didn't lose until he moved up to MW (unless you count the Oscar fight as an Oscar win**) and that was against a modern day great fighter.

Tito knew how to handle movers, could box punchers, hell could slug out with punchers, handled quicker guys etc.............he was far more than just a one dimensional slugger. And that on top of the fact that he never lost to a fighter that was shorter than him. Not sure Crawford had the right physical dimensions to beat him. At WW beating Tito would be a tall task.

 

I'll take Tito, but it's not a point I would argue vehemently.

The important point here is Tito was a ridiculously good puncher at 147. Far beyond anything Crawford has been in with.

 

Bud KO mid-late rounds, too much skill.

 

Fought Jones, Hopkins, De La Hoya, Vargas, Winky, and was only stopped once - against an ATG Middleweight - but Bud is too skilled for him to go 12? Not sure that rings true.
