So after i saw a interview where Tito somewhat bash cotto's 154lb career, I thought to myself that I thought that Cotto had fought the better opponents and the better fighter of the two. The best wins of Tito was against Oba Carr. and Hector Camacho, he should have lost to Oscar and he beat a coked out whitaker.

Although Cotto lacked the big names like a Camacho or Whitaker, he did beat some solid names, like Judah, Mosley, Margarito and solid guys like Clottey.

I think Tito slightly tops Cotto on Resume but I think Cotto is the better fighter?

    Both lost to legends.

    Who do you guys think?

its a close one to see whos the better fighter but i think tito's resume is much greater

he has great wins over luis ramon campas, camacho, carr, mayorga, vargas and his ass whoopin of joppy all spread over several weights

then he has a decent enough win over whitaker (name value) and a hollow 'win' over de la hoya

Cotto's resume is also strong but its just lacking the spark of tito's. almost every great win on cotto's resume was close (except malignaggi)......if he were to beat mayweather though, i'd be singing a different tune (but i don't think he will)

Keep in mind Tito is naturally bigger. Cotto is clearly the better fighter in my eyes. Better boxing IQ, better inside and outside fighter. Tito got Cotto in conditioning, both are not the most durable guy.

Also Cotto was able to beat non prime but not over the hill Shane who in his prime will box Tito's ear off and possibly KO him.

Cotto has improve in his skills every year whilst TIto just fought one dimensional and relies solely on his left hook. Both guys right hand are just there but not outstanding however cotto can put punches together better and had MUCH BETTER MOVEMENT and defense. His biggest problem is his stamina.

Tito's destruction of the young, hungry up and coming Vargas was a thing of ****ing beauty! The best part is what he said to Vargas at the staredown.

Tito was greater, in resume and ability. And head to head, Tito would've stopped him.

Vargas was never outstanding in my eyes but thats just my opinion plus Tito tower over Vargas. Tito fought guys who were smaller than him majority of his career.

I know Tito got the better Resume (more big names) but is just crazy talk to say Tito had more skills. I don't even think is close.

Agreed with all of this excluding the ability part. I think Cotto is much more skillful than Tito. Tito's punching power is what really made him special.

Tito was simply a different class. Miguel's a bit more versatile, but he's not exceptional at anything. Tito was one of the finest offensive forces we've seen in decades, not just his raw power (which was immense), but his punch picking, his combinations to the head and body, his underrated speed, his general relentlessness, etc. He had the full arsenal of punches. Cotto's one of my favorite fighters, but peak for peak he was no better than Vargas. We're comparing a very good fighter with a fine career to a genuine ATG, end of story.

To be fair Cotto arguably should have lost to Clottey and possibly Shane, and he also lost to Margarito weather you believe he cheated or not he still lost, Tito trumps Miguel as it stands...by the wat Antonio Margarito is not a legend...

wow anything to make Pac look that much better:rofl:rofl:rofl

TITo is by far the better fighter H2H and better Resume. Tito would of blasted Cotto out in 5 rounds top. and tito had trouble with Tall fighters who could box.

you just started watching boxing when Pac beat Morales the 3rd time !!!

so your only memory of (past his prime)Vargas is his defeat at the hands of Mayorga and Suga Shane .
