Years ago Trinidad was dumb enough to think Hopkins would be a stepping stone to Jones. He was deluded then and he is deluded now.
Even if he does beat RJ,J Joe Calzaghe would want no part of him. Joe wants the respect of the Americans, and beating Tito would do uhhhhh absolutely nothing.
I admire Tito for not being a no risk fake like his rival Goldie but he picks the wrong styles to fight. Six years ago Roy coulda violated Tito but now he'll simply molest him. After picking Winky no matter what his people said he had NO gameplan for him and even though he promises PR he'll win wtf can he do to Jones, especially up in weight and out of retirement? One of my friends thinks Tito owes Don money or something and maybe he has a point bcuz he couldve at least of had a tune up fight.
Taking the blow of an opponent to the chin, then hitting the canvas results in a bad chin, 95% of the time anyway. Would you not agree?. Having a good chin is about staying on your feet. Trinidad gets knocked down and hurt. Some fighters have poor balance, get hit on the chin lightly, and get up as with their faculties intact. Trinidad doesn't meet that criteria.
I'm not saying that Tito wasn't great in his prime. And well... Joe gives a **** it appears. Thats why he is trying to fight on American soil and fight big name American fighters, big payday yes, but global respect too!
True....but I just don't see how he can do it. He would have to pressure and throw LOTS of punches the ENTIRE fight. At 170 and past his prime I just don't see that happening. But if he does get past RJJ then I really don't think JC will fight him. Whats the point? He wouldn't get much respect for beating him, so its a low reward fight and he said himself he is only having a couple more fights. Why waste a possible last fight on Tito? Anyone that knows boxing at all knows that JC would molest Tito and send him straight back to retirement. BTW im not a Tito hater. I know I sound like one, but im just being realistic and honest with my opinion
I'm not so sure about that. Trinidad could conceivably knockout Jones, lets face it he has been knocked out by lesser men. Trinidad is popular with the fans and the knockout would stir up interest and make any subsequent match a more marketable commodity. Calzaghe wants big money fights and Trinidad could set up the biggest money-maker of the year by knocking out Jones. Unlikely, but certainly possible.
Well put, I just feel as though a win against Tito may not be exactly in his gameplan to go down as an ATG. Plus it wouldn't be for any kind of title.
