http://dreamfighters.com/site/?action=detail&id=1213210683 Interesting interview at least and certainly something to talk about.
Tito seems like such a cocky guy, the exact kind of guy that I love to see beat.....But I'd love to see Kimbo laid out too.
Tito vs kimbo could be very interesting. I know James Thompson is no Mark Kerr - but he was able to get Kimbo down. Unfortunatlely, wear and tear seem to have robbed Tito of his ability to drive through on his takedowns. He hasn't displayed any power in that area in a while. If he can't get Kimbo to the ground - he could get his head knocked off. I would love to see this fight. Sounds like a great jumping on point for Tito Ortiz and Elite XC. Gary Shaw should have enough sense to get behind this match. Kimbo is bound to lose sooner or later - as it almost happened with the Thompson fight. Why wait for Kimbo to lose to a journeyman when you can rub him up against a name fighter like Tito Ortiz? Win or lose, Shaw can ride the winner as the flagship fighter of the company. It would serve both Kimbo and Tito very well to win this fight.
Kimbo was really a little too green for Thompson, let alone Ortiz. You're setting Slice up for a near guaranteed loss, and doing it at a time when even the main stream are questioning his abilities. I believe that Thompson deserves a rematch. Kimbo has much more room to grow after 3 fights than does a 20+ fight veteran like Thompson. I don't think that Thompson is too big a gamble. After that Kimbo could be matched against the guy who beat him in that gym fight in his bare knuckle days. It gives Kimbo an almost guarantee for victory, and gives him more valuable time training. I would then match Kimbo with Rogers. That fight seems to have begun marketing itself anyway at this point. If Kimbo is successful in those fights the general public will be back on the bandwagon, the haters will be at full throttle, and the stage will be set for a major fight to determine the Elite XC top contender. That's where Ortiz comes in. Yes folks, they are still that limited in number of quality fighters. The elite have yet to come over to EliteXC, but a big to do like mentioned earlier could entice a few. The UFC will begin paying its stars a little more, and make match-ups to prove they are ahead of any other organization. And the fans will be the real winners with fun event after fun event.
i can see this fight happening...Ortiz should win easily...even if Kimbo loses he'll still have some $$ fights left.
I clicked on the thread because I thought you was talkin bout Tito Trinidad. Dont know much about MMA but I check on the Kimbo's videos to see how he performs. So far so good.
Thompson was taking Kimbo down and beating on him at will. Titos stronger then Thompson and has better GNP he should maul Kimbo and brutally unless he gets hit.
I think I think Tito is more shot than most people do, ie I think he has absolutely nothing left at all and he has the knees and back of an athritic octogenarian. On that basis alone I'd back Kimbo (eek!).
