can the slick defensive skillz of Benitez be enough to prevail against the demonic flurries of Taylor?

In my view, Taylor's aggression & hand speed wins out over the South American's passivity and earns a wiiiiide decision

Meldrick Taylor vs. Wilfred Benitez? I see Wilfred easily outboxing him. Meldrick had great inside handspeed but was hit too easily, and Wilfred had just as fast hands as the guys who beat Meldrick. I see Wilfred winning a UD at 140 and stopping Taylor at 147.

Wilfred was nowhere as fast as Norris. nor was he an infighter like Chavez.

Wilfred outboxed one of the best infighters around Duran, and could match up well with Hearns at 154. Tommy was missing with bodypunches. Wilfred was bigger than Taylor and just as fast. Yes I think Benitez was as fast as Norris. No way does Taylor beat Benitez. Bad style matchup.

I think this is a great match up and a close fight i would see Benitez doing well on the score cards, maybe around 8-4/7-5.

Taylor had dazzing inside speed, but not much power and was hit easily. A guy like Benitez had underrated power and a good jab. Leonard called him his mirror image. Taylor did well against Meekins and McGirt but Benitez is an ATG.

Jim Lampley would have Taylor winning.

I think most objective folks will see Wilfred's defensive skills getting him through in a great battle of speed vs. defense.

    AWESOME matchup!

Benitez's defense, reflexes, and quickness would ofset Taylor's handspeed, and Will would win the decision.

Taylor has that great hand speed but is easy to hit. Benitez is not easy to hit and counters well.
Taylor will win a few rounds but Benitez would win the match.
