im british carnt really say im a big fan of english fighters hayes not to bad not to keen on froch or khan.To be honest my fav fighters are manny, mayweather, mosley.
Khan too definitely, I like him, always out to prove his many doubters wrong and seems very proffesional. Although my favourite fighters often arn't British, when they are in the big fights abroad, my heart usually routes for them as I have usually followed them from the start and I want British boxing to benefit.
I think that's a good approach to boxing. It's not a sport like football when you always want your guys to win, boxing transcends nationality. That's how I see it anyway.
I like Amir Khan, he has great talent... but you guys shouldn't put too much hope in him...the next time he faces a puncher he's probably going to go down again.
Hatton isn't my favorite fighter, but he is one of them. I hope he doesn't retire, because there is no shame in losing to Pac. And outside of Manny, Hatton is still the best at 140. That said, if you're a Brit, and you need somebody to latch on to; I'd say Froch is your best bet. Haye's party is about to be spoiled.
Hatton won't retire yet. I'm willing to bet that at the very least - he'll take a farewell fight back in England.
Very true. I am a fan of pac, but I was a bigger fan of hatton thats why I went the way I did but if hatton retires definately supporting pac skills because on saturday he was simply tremendous.
Too many people are writing Ricky off b/c of this loss when I think that is disrespectful. He lost to PAC...nothing wrong there. He's still a VERY strong fighter who is one of the best Jr WW's out there. To call for his retirment is wrong considering he's only 30 and this is only his 2nd loss.
Don't get me wrong, I always enjoy supporting British boxers, but it isn't the be-all and end-all when it comes to determining how much I like a fighter. Like Manny Pacquiao, he's been a huge favourite of mine since I saw him blitz Barrera back in the day, and even though he just beat the **** out of our Ricky I still have massive respect for him and consider myself a fan. I always liked Ricky Hatton not just coz he's from Manchester, like I am, but coz he had a great attitude. He fought with his heart on his sleeve in every fight, even when he should've been using his head, and his overall attitude and passion for the sport is something I really appreciate. Plus, unlike Joe Calzaghe, he took the risk and went and fought the very best in the world, he didn't stay at home to look after his undefeated record. He never ducked anyone, and he got a really good career out of this attitude. Think back to the day when Hatton beat Tsyzu, he could've spent the rest of his career fighting hand-picked bums for Frank Warren in front of 40,000 people in the M.E.N., retired a millionaire with a 50-0 record, and that would've it. But he chose not to, he took the risky path, and took on 2 P4P elite champions. He lost, but at least he ****ing tried. More British fighters should follow that lead, and people should respect what Hatton accomplished during his career.
Do any of you watch normal british boxing not the elite levels but fighters who are european and commonwealth level? theres still some top prospects coming through, to many people just hop on the band wagon when they get a world title shot
Hatton was/is may fav british fighter alongside Calzaghe. Out of Froch,Haye and Khan. I would follow Froch with more interest. Haye I dont see doing much with Klitschko but it would be good if he beat him. Khan am already bored with this guy and the way he speaks saying he is better changed man etc. He will get whooped again when he fights somone the same size as him and not an older smaller Barrera. Out of the UK I have always liked Mosely I think he is an credit to boxing. Goes for all the top fights mostly and fares up well in most of them. Apart from Forrest fights has Mosely ever been down. I also like COTTO as I think he was an mean mutha fooka until he lost his aura against Margorito.
I must admit I know what you mean. There are an few olympians and also some other guys but Ill always keep on eye on them to see what there doing.
I am not a Hatton fan but I am also not one of the morons who are writing him off for having a KO loss. Imagine how many great fights we all would have missed if boxers were forced to retire after two KO losses? People who think he needs to retire need to get a brain.
if hattons gone its all about khan, haye and froch. I didnt like froch much before but now i like him because he fights with alot of heart and got big bulls!!!
