Here is the kicker though, Margarito already fought Paul and lost to him, so realisticly his requirements by the Floyd fans have been met, Now all the sudden becuase he didnt win that fight, yet was still able to come back and win two major world titles and beat rising Star Miguel Cotto somehow the demands of the Floyd boys today is that he fight him again. Pathetic, he already fought the man and lost big deal he did his part, I think Floyd fans should be pushing their man to either fight Margarito or Paul williams. Since Margarito has already stepped up to the challenge.
I think you have a point but so does the poster you responded to. What would do more for Margarito in building his name up? Fighting Williams, or fighting the very popular and well known Shane Mosley followed by Cotto? If he wants to show he's a true champion I agree he should rematch Williams down the line though. As you said perfectly yourself, Floyd took a route that he felt best for his career and from what I can see Margarito is doing too. Out of interest was Margarito actually offered $4 million to himself? I heard it was a split but my memory may be playing up........
Do you not think that's a good fight? Do you not think Mosley has the durability and slicker skills to trouble Marg? I think this is going to be a great fight for boxing fans.
zab was the former undisputed champ pbf fought him at his 2nd fight at welter and then went on to beat the lineal champ in BALDO. it was really a tune up show case type of fight at that time
One major problem with this assessment...... none of these guys have stepped up to fight him. This problem ties into the "Boxing is dieing" thread that you were so outspoken about, most of which I agreed with, but there is no way of forcing these guys to fight each other. This consequently was the reason why PTP vacated his WBO belt. You of all people shouldn't point the finger at PTP, the finger should be pointed at #1 the politics of boxing for not have a system in place to force these type of fights. :deal And #2 Margo for ducking him :yep
Sure I think it a good fight because of the name recognition of the fighters but I think Margo will inevitably overwhelm Mosley. The most important fight that can be made at 147 is Margo-PTP because Margo is the perceived best in the division, PTP has a win over him, the fight would be for welter weight supremacy with the ring belt on the line, and PTP has called out a man who is known for calling out others. It needs to happen.
It's gonna be a great fight no doubt because both fighters are warriors. Here is the thing about Mosley though he clearly is not the same fighter he once was a few years ago. If you seen the Mayorga fight you can no doubt see his age in the ring also it seemed he had trouble pulling the trigger against Mayorga but he figured it out in the last round. Against Margarito he will be facing a bigger stronger fighter who is the constant pressure fighter and I honestly highly doubt he can hurt Margarito. Margarito has one of the best uppercuts in the business and Mosley is very very vulnerable to that punch. See the Forrest fight and you can see my point. With that being said its gonna be a great fight while it last and I think Margarito might be the first one stop Sugar Shane Mosley. Also no bias view here, I am a big fan of both. :good
Paul Williams is definitely moving on, I don't see how he's stuck with Margarito, he's trying to bring some big fights from 147 all the way to 160, that's what Williams has been trying to do lately, only problem is that he can't seem to get anyone to take it. About fighting Margarito, I honestly don't think he's worth fighting for Mayweather in comparison to Pacquiao right now. I would be FAR more interested in a Pacquiao fight than a fight with Margarito. Unless Margarito at least avenges one loss then we'll be talking. Also judging by Margarito's 2009 plans he doesn't seem interested at all in Williams, he's booked for Mosley then Cotto late in the year. It just doesn't make sense to me that he will fight Mosley/Cotto and Williams all in the same year. Also don't forget that Arum publicly stated that he won't do any deals with Williams nor his promoter after the discussions to fight Pavlik.
WHo gives a **** what fans call other fighters? Why do posters make such a big deal out of that as if it's the FIGHTER saying it?
Margarito and Mayweather were NOT on the same level. So it's NOT the same Scar. Mayweather has been a World champ since 1998,. Margarito has NOT. So it's pretty obvious WHY Mayweather is held to a higher standard. And since Margarito FOUGHT Williams once already, it's not even the same there. And lastly, it's NOT the same people. Everytime posters try to say "The same people said this...now they say this..." it's rarely the same people. that line is pretty played out. Basically, you're only saying all that because of what people said about Mayweather. Meaning you may not even believe it, but post it to "get back" at other posters. Keep it real instead....
