Margarito isnt the only fish in the sea. Not when Welterweight is stacked division. If Williams cant get Margo, then fight Clottey or Berto. Dont know why he is fighting above welterweight if he wants the WW title.

 

Fight Berto? Berto is not ready to step up, let alone fight Williams someone so tall. Will never happen.

Fight Clottey? Will never happen, Arum promotes Clottey.

Fight Collazo? Since losing to Mosley hes fought two guys at catch weights with a combined record of 24-9-1. Williams would be taking a step backward.

Fight Mosley? Mosley is going to lose to Margo. Unless Mosley beats Margo, this fight would be stupid to be made.

Fight Cintron? He's not even in most top 10s. A huge step backward if this fight were to happen.

Fight Cotto? This fight again is impossible, Cotto is promoted by Arum, thus making it impossible.

I think this is the reason WHY PW is bugging Margo so much for a rematch...since Margo did all the dirty work of cleaning out the division and sine PW already beat him...he wants the WW that won't step up to be represented through the man that cleaned the division and had balls enough to challenge this man...so that HE can say HE's the MAN at 147 cuz he beat the rep. of the division

He doesnt have to move up, He is the WBA Champion at 147 if Paul wanted the fight bad enough alls he had to do was drop the WBO title and stay at Welter Weight, he would have then sooner or later become a mandotory challenger for Margarito, instead he moved up to 154, Obviously Paul doesnt want the fight that much himself neither and is using nothing but trash talk to make himself look good, Honestly I dont think Paul wants the rematch his move up to 154 kinda shows that he isnt interested in fighting Tony at Welter.

 

Exactly. When Margarito had trouble with big fights, he fought the other top contenders. Williams has beaten 2 top WW's. Goosen can't get his guy fights, throw some of that 4 mill he's tryin g to lure Margrito with. Or, as some suggested for Margarito, lose the WBO belt. Williams needs to realize one big win isn't going to force people to fight you. Or that calling out every big name shows you are entitled to a big fight. Margarito paid his dues. And while I do understand the hesitation to face someone like Williams by some, sweeten the offer. Or stick to one division and FORCE people to face you by beating the other contender.

 

Honestly Bazooka.. I've read your posts. You got way more sense than to believe what you just wrote. Did you not hear Paul when he said himself that he would go down to 147 and fight Margarito? Margo moving up never came into question. That's what's so silly about you guys keep bringing it up.

Paul will fight him anytime. Any weight. Although, I think he should chillout for a while and let that cut heal all the way.

and during that time Tony had fought two world champions and stopped them both, and when you really think about it, Tony has fought Clottey, Williams, Johnson, Cintron (IBF) and Cotto (WBA) all in the last year and a half those are all the top welter weights right there for you.

At this stage one would have no other choice but to agree that a fighter who has gone through all of that deserves to have a soft fight, which he is entitled to, give him Mosley a big name who is at the end of his career, let him rematch Cotto, why? two reasons the first being Cotto gave him a shot at a household name when he probably didnt have to, and the second being the way Cotto fought in that fight he deserves it.

if he doesnt fight Williams any time soon after those fights then you could say he is ducking but at this stage considering the work Margarito has put in during the last year and a half he deserves a break.

 

You keep talking Quintana... but the only people he has lost stock with is Margarito fans, looking for a reason to deny him.

Face it. He is the only real 147 who has a chance of really beating Margo. And that's why Margo is in no hurry to fight him again. Cotto ain't big enough. Shane is too old. Clottey has a shot, but Tony won't fight him either.

Admit it. Margarito is not interested in taking any chances on losing. Why can't people admit that?

 

I could respect that too. But when he's giving us all this other run around stuff, it kind of overshadows all that. But I definitely agree with you Bazooka, those are the best guys in the division. And ppl can say Shane is a "soft fight", but no one knows what kind of Shane will show up in the fight so I think its unfair to call Shane a soft fight against anyone 154 & below
