To all those who believe p4p = h2h/weight, please give me your opinions...

its kinda vague if you ask me. It equals the "fantasy match-ups" usually done in the forums... If you're gonna say that "The P4P" concept is stupid might as well stop pitting current fighters against last era's, cause its as stupid.

So, I'm trying a different tactic now, a short sharp example that should hopefully highlight how ridiculous this concept is:

People are often saying Calzaghe (a lhw) would beat Pac (a lw-ww) or vice-versa, so by the same principle these people must also be able to decide who would win between peak Lennox Lewis and peak Ricardo Lopez, so the question is:

- 5ft 2in and 98lbs version of Lewis vs peak Lopez

or

- 6ft 5in and 245lbs version of Lopez vs peak Lewis

Which do you think of to decide who would win? Would the result of these two possibilities definitely be the same?? :nut

I live in hope that this thread means that just one person sees the light that this is NOT what pound-for-pound means and that these h2hs are NOT things that can or should ever be considered by a sensible boxing fan.

I think you are right in regards to a direct H2H match up in that aspect, it is impossible to do in any meaningful way, we just cannot know the affect of the physics on the boxer. if they where 50 pounds heavier or 10 inches smaller

However what i think most people mean isn't really H2H as such but skill sets. Eg of course we can never know if pac was 168 he could beat calzaghe but we can make assumptions as to who is the more complete and talented boxer in there own weight divisions and take this into account in P4P rakings
