Now people started saying: They are only dominant because of their size:

Would Thomas hearns been as good if he was smaller?
What if Ali wasnt as fast?
What if Tyson didnt have his powerful pittbull type body?
    What if Lewis was smaller?
What if Roy jones didnt have his in-human athleticism?

Alot of people will now point out that the attributes i listed is mostly athletic strengths.. BUT, all these fighters has trained and developed their attributes, just like the Klits uses their height and reach to full advantage.. Size is great to have if you know how to use it..

I think it's unfair to do so, though there's no disputing that their size plays a big part in their game.

Lewis had a big advantage due to his size too don't forget.

However, I think there will come a time (in say the next 10 to 20 years) where they either have to increase the cruiser limit (as they have done before) or have a new weight class between Cruiser and Heavy.

How do the Klits train and develop their height?

Because all of the advantages you name have to be honed and trained and worked upon to go hand in hand with technique.

'There are weight classes for a reason'

Without boxing Roy Jones would just have been a normal man, he may have had slightly higher than average reflexes but that's it, he would have had to build his career around it and train it and use it to be his best asset.

Wlad or Vitali's physical gift (extreme size) isn't something they worked on or trained at.

Julius Long and Ty Feilds would be tied for the GOAT if size mattered at HW.:deal

    Look at it this way

If every HW fighter was 6'7, would the both of them look as good? I doubt it. and Wlad would come off worse than Vitali imo.

Don't get me wrong they are both very good fighters but their size undeniably plays a role in that. Moreso than any other champs in the past.

    I know..
But people is just a little rough on the Klitschko IMO.. Since they are trying to take things away from then because of their size..
But i agree with you to some point..
But.. I guy like Jones had incredible physical gifts, if he didnt do boxing he would certainly also be able to compete better at athletic events than the average man..

I've always found the "Oh, if didn't have attribute X, he wouldn't be as good" arguement to be a lame one. All great fighters are blessed with some thing or the other. It's what makes them the special fighters they are.

Definitely, but I think that can be said about everyone who makes it big as a professional boxer, they have something noone else does.

Thomas Hearns -- used leverage in fights against men of the same weight.
Tyson -- smaller than most men he fought, won through aggression, strength, and technique.
Ali -- used speed to throw combinations and control a much tougher HW era
Lewis -- used his size AND speed to knock opponents out, not hold them until they folded.
Jones -- well, a lot of that was chemistry and reflexes.

Wlad -- uses his size and weight advantages to fight MORE carefully than any of the above or neccessary. Has one technique: Paw, paw, clinch. Throws very few combos. Has been decked by the few guys who were able to get inside his paw and grab technique.

Simply put, all of the above fighters would have upped the aggression on a fighter like Haye, cut off the ring, and gotten him out of there. Wlad didn't because he does not have the mental make-up or all-around game of the above fighters.

Jab, jab, grab. Maybe good at winning rounds but it's not exciting to watch.

Tyson and the others were exciting boxers and weren't afraid to trade with other fighters shot for shot. Wlad will never be ranked among the great boxers and it's not because he's not American, it's because he's such a bore to watch.

    What an idiot comment!

Most boxers would loose their sense of coordination, balance and speed.

Just look at Valuev, he is much bigger than Wlad but still lost a SD to Haye.

    Got it?
