To barely loss a round to Clottey at welter is a great performance by Pacquiao

Pac would be a favorite to beat most anyone. But you could look at Clottey's previous fights and tell comfortably what this fight would look like. It's not just that he's a lesser fighter than Pacquiao, he's a lesser fighter with a style that could not possibly compete. He doesn't have one punch power, he has a low workrate, he has a passive defense that allows fighters to rack up points banging on his gloves, and he is either in offensive or defensive mode, and doesn't move between them quickly enough to catch Pac often.

I was just another day at the office. That's all it ever could have been. No drama. No tension. No sense of urgency from either guy. No raise in stature. Meaningless.

I'd have much rather seen him fight Bradley, for instance. He probably would have beaten Bradley too, but Bradley at least has some things he can bring to the table that Pac hasn't dealt with recently. He has very good speed, he's very athletic, he also has a high workrate, and he's got great will to win. He's the man at 140. If Pac proved to be head and shoulders above him that would mean something. It would be a win against a guy, at or near his prime, who is almost as athletic as Pac, who is hungry to win, and who has a style that Pac hasn't seen recently.

Clottey isn't anything special never has been and never will be. His size at WW is really the only thing he has going for him. He's a B- fighter at the absolute best. With that said the JMM that PBF fought put up a much greater effort to win than Clottey who didn't even bother to show up and was happy with just being there and trying to survive 12 rounds.

bull****. there were many posters giving clottey a legitimate chance. i , like yourself, did not think clottey would work enough to win but i sure as hell did not expect him to look like a sparring partner off the street, that was all manny. ALL MANNY.
saying that beating a top welter by a top lightweight is meaningless is just the type of bull**** guys like you keep in your mouth ready at all times. your hate is hilarious and im sure todays sports headlines are giving floyd the runs as well.

:patsch You fail to see the entire point as usual. Look at how Clottey fared against the other top WW's he's fought. It's HOW he beat him that was so impressive.

Yeah but im still right though.

Clottey is a better win at Welter. So for fans to continue to bag Pac its just getting old now.

The only thing according to PBF fans is for them to respect Pac he has to beat PBF or Williams at 154.

Which i feel is a ****ing joke.

Especially when you already have wins over

    Sasakul
    Ledwaba
    Morales X 2
    Barrera X 2
    Marquez
    Diaz
    Larios
    Solis
    Dela Hoya
    Hatton
    Cotto
    Clottey

Im being serious when i say this. No matter how much you hate that Pimp is pretty ****ING IMPRESSIVE.

Like i said, check the polls to see who gave Clottey a chance.

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208858&highlight=pacquiao+clottey+poll

    180 to 39 for Pac

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=15449

    61 to 7 for Pac

Clottey's best win is Judah. How the **** would a guy who couldn't even dominate Judah (who weighed in for that fight at 143 and 1/2, btw) beat the best fighter in the world?

Clottey was overrated. Worse, though, he was completely wrong for Pac. Margarito had already show what happens when Clottey faces a guy with a good workrate. And Margarito doesn't have the handspeed or footspeed Pac does.

He didn't almost beat Margarito. It was a UD. The scorecards weren't close.

Pac was sensational. But Clottey was ordinary. I know Pac made him look that way but he didn't even deter himself from his ways to try salvaging something late in the fight. Pac was more desperate to entertain than Clottey was to win.

Pac is a mesmerizing machine. Imagine him in 15 round fights... unbelievable.

People are making too much of Clottey he was never elite never close to anyone top 10 or top 15 or even top 25 P4P list. It was a great performance by Pac and I've given him credit. He did what he had to do and put on a dominating display. But Clottey isn't great or elite and has lost in every fight he has stepped up in comp.

:patsch Again...you are too ****in short sighted. Pac beat him in a way no other TOP WW was able to even come close to. Not Cotto and not Margarito. And you think you are supposed to be knowledgeable?
