Love the sport more than the fighters. Not automatically consider a boxer no good just because he loses a fight. Realise that getting knocked down or out doesn't automatically mean you have a glass jaw and are no good.
To be a true boxing fan you have to ... Be like MVC...Making new threads/postings @ ESB forum, 24/7, 365 days/ year.
I like Rosado I was rubbing it in a little bit, I just happen to be a bigger fan of Lemieux's. I like PR fighters quite abit actually I like Verdejo, I like Pedraza, I even like Danny, I liked Juanma I just can't stand Cotto :conf
To be a true boxing you need one thing To want to see good match ups, no matter what the level, when a guy is seasoned he should be matched properly and competitively, and when you are top top level we want to see you take on only other top top level guys And when you are great we want yo see you challenge yourself even more in your final fights
I disagree pretty strongly. As the other poster said, this is some "ego stroking." While I've gotten my ass kicked my fair share with the gloves on I also haven't done anything remotely serious in front of any crowd ever and I don't think that takes away from my appreciation of actually physically knowing how to box some and experiencing the workout, pain, and triumph involved. I enjoy watching curling, judo, short track ice skating, and triathlons during the Olympics but I've never once competed in any of those sports. I am a fan of watching them. "True fan" is just an awkward term by definition. I think a more appropriate title for this thread would have been: "To be a boxing fan whose opinion is relevant to me..."
true pugilism fans love old boxing movies, novels, photos, bios, and watch replays of fights in youtube
True boxing fans don't post or talk about a boxer making good decisions to make money and avoid risk. Nothing wrong with making good cash, worshiping fighters who only do that and avoid the best is despicable and is worshiped too much here.
You simply have to know enough about the sport to know how much credit to give to particular fighters for fights they won. And know enough to know what the competitive matches are so that they can be requested and also correctly credited for when they happen. Then have the integrity to actually give the credit that is due even when things didn't go the way you wanted or thought they would go.
