To be fair, is Wilder really as bad as people make him out to be?

Most people see him as a terrible boxer with a terrific right hand, which is exactly what he is.

Holmes probably would not annihilate Wilder - he would just methodically jab Wilder to pulp while the latter gassed himself in an effort to keep up. And then, unload some heavier shots to finish it.

Wilder might be a shell of his former self based on what Fury did to him....which gives Helenius a reasonable chance of pulling off the upset.

But there ain't no such thing as a 38 1/2 year-old fighter in "career shape". Doesn't happen. Or at least it can't without a lot of help from a chemist.

Let's not forget that Robert Helenius's most significant contribution to the sport in the last six or seven years was getting KO'ed by Gerald-****ing-Washington in a highlight-reel stoppage.

And a strong will. His corner threw in the towel in Fury II, and he went out on his shield in Fury III.
His first fight with Ortiz was a war, as was the second; took some really heavy shots from the Cuban,
but stayed up and eventually KO'd him.

They HAVE to act like Wilder is an ATG; Fury himself constantly says Wilder's right hand is "the best in HW history".
Otherwise Fury would be considered a good but not great boxer. How could they nuthug a good but not great boxer?
No way, he has to be invincible.

Oh by the way, how many times was Fury down in the three Wilder fights? I forget, really. 4 times? 5?

Wilder did get dropped by the legendary Dustin Nichols, but rose like a true champ to beat him. Since Nichols and Fury are the only ones to drop Wilder, I'd say that makes Nichols Wilders second best win.

    Truly stellar.

Well let's compare him to someone like Andy Ruiz who struggled with an ancient areola and Ortiz .. Wilder did a much more impressive job on them and when they were in better form as well.. people say he's a bum and useless but he can actually box go watch the Duhaupas fight for example.. he's never going to be a Lennox Lewis or a Fury but hes not as bad as some make out

So that is, one guy - Ortiz, a good boxer, but not great. But tell me, as you insist Wilder isn't a crappy boxer, how did he didn't beat Fury, but got raped by him?

Ruiz hadn't fought for 17 months before Arreola
    And
    16 months before Ortiz.

Active Ruiz is a different animal entirely:
See Parker and Joshua 1 fights.
Parker was a three month turn around
    Joshua 1 was two months.

Wilder wishes he had the Joshua win on his resume

Wilder has tremendous power, killer instinct, extremely fast hands and the will to win.

That's it. But if you are 6.6 then it will you bring very far in a lot of eras

I'd have thought his most significant contribution in the past few years was battering Kownacki twice, personally.

He's better than Shavers was. One of the top 2-3 for a while, but never the top guy. Very good contender; great punch; not lineal.
